Is anyone on here going to Camp Texas, or if you're an upper classman, do you recommend going?

I'm pretty sure that I'm going. It sounds like SO much fun and a great opportunity to get to know people.

I think the timing doesn't work for out of state kids. There's too much of a break between the end of Camp Texas and the first possible day to move into your dorm room - you would have to fly home in between, right?

I think I'm going, but I don't think I'm flying home in between. I'll probably just go to the last session then go straight to UT. My parents will probably meet me there. And its funny, people were just talking about this in the Facebook group...

yes I'm going! I can't freaking wait for all of the festivities to start.

According to the folks from the Exes, they can actually help you store your stuff if you can't move in early enough, so you could probably pull it off.

cchua, I think you Facebook friended me last night, am I right? I'm Chris B. from Jesuit and Dallas.

hahaha.... I knew it loneranger... I started looking at your facebook profile last night and thought... from the way he knows so much and he is from Dallas... nah it couldn't be... but it was. I should have just followed my instinct. How have you amalgamated so much knowledge about UT? This is really your school, eh?

Yeah I've wanted to go to UT since I can remember...then they passed the top ten law when I was 6 so I always wanted to try hard in school (until after sophomore year when I was far enough ahead that I could just chill). I heard about Plan II freshman year and have wanted to go there ever since.

All the info is just from research and reading online, as well as talking to people, I honestly don't spend a whole lot of time on it, I just retain what I read incredibly well.

My World Lit professor usually speaks at Camp Texas, definitely look for him. His name is Jerome Bump...really casual professor.

Camp Texas 2007

Camp Texas will be held August 17-23, 2008 (Session One: August 17-19; Session Two: August 19-21; and, Session Three: August 21-23). The cost for Camp Texas is $135, which includes 3 days/2 nights lodging at Camp Balcones Springs, seven meals, transportation to-and-from campus and the retreat site, activities, and a burnt orange t-shirt.

Oh, I see. I must have been thinking Camp Texas was only from Aug 17 to 19. The other two work out time wise if you can figure out what to do with all of your dorm room stuff.

Does anyone actually know someone who went to Camp Texas? If so, how did they like it?

Well all the Texas Exes Student Chapter kids told me that they had a blast and it was really fun. Of course, they get a lot of their funding from that so they may have no choice.

The Plan II student assistant actually had a Camp Texas 2005 coffee mug, so it obviously either makes a difference or makes good mug.

Yes, they were probably told to say that.

Well, I'm in my third year at UT and never went to Camp Texas, but I remember my friends telling me how much fun they had attending. Some of them keep going back year after year to be a counselor. So, I applied, and this year I'm a counselor. Without drinking too much of the kool-aid, I guarantee you will have fun and it will be a worthwhile experience. It's a great way to get to know a lot of people - freshman, other students and professors.

I haven't met a person who hasn't told me that Camp Texas was some of the most fun they have ever had.
