I'll be going to UT in the fall from OOS (upstate ny) and I've heard about Camp Texas- I was wondering what exactly is it and should I go? I'm not really an outdoorsy person, but I thought it would be good to go since I won't know anyone when I start class. Could anyone give me any information on Camp Texas? thanks

I am assuming you read this. Also, I would suggest searching the UT forum. I believe there was some discussion about Camp Texas last year.

Here is what the Loneranger said about Camp Texas:

I cannot stress enough how beneficial Camp Texas is. My very best friends at UT who aren’t in my fraternity I met through Camp Texas. It’s an excellent, excellent program.

Summer Orientation is also a great place for out of staters to start meeting people.

Camp Texas is a great couple of days of meeting people and fun. I would definitely recommend that everyone attend. You will meet not only other freshman, but older students and faculty/staff that are involved and successful at UT. It’s a great start to navigating student life at UT.

There are small group games, team building events, skits, free time (sports, lakefront, games, etc.), a huge game of capture the flag and more. Do yourself a favor and go.
