Feedback on Camp Texas

I would appreciate any feedback from those (students or parents) that have had prior experience with attending Camp Texas. This is an optional extended 3-day orientation run by the Texas Exes and sounds like a great idea and a lot of fun. This would be in addition to the mandatory orientation sessions that will be held by UT.

My question is - is Camp Texas worthwhile? Is it redundant if you’ve been to the mandatory orientation? I’d love to hear of some experiences and what was gained from it.

My LHS went to Camp Texas last year and loved it. Although we live in a big suburbia city, he has always gone to small, private schools. So this was a real good opportunity for him to start making friends and open up a little. He said it was just so much fun from sports to goofy team building contest and competitions. Totally different than the orientation. Hope this helps.
