I got an email telling that living at Campus Village would be $5,102 a year. This seems way too good to be true. Are there any other fees I would have to pay? And is there custodial cleaning for the bathroom?

That sounds about right, for furnished academic year lease I’m assuming. There are no extra charges except for a parking permit if you decide to bring one. And there is no cleaning so you will need to figure out a cleaning schedule with your roommates.

Agreed. Looks about right.

This is one reason why cv is the best place to live on campus.

pretty much the reason why i’m choosing to live there again this year. that and it’s just so convenient! sure, it’s not the best looking apartments available, but i don’t have to take the shuttle or anything to get to classes. works out great for me!

i put myself on the waitlist a few weeks ago, and got a call about a place being available a few days ago. if you’re still interested in CV, i’d suggest putting your name on the waiting list (just send them an email). it’s worth a shot :P

I forgot to mention I’m an incoming freshman and just got a housing offer from CV.
How different will my experience be from other freshmen living in Mesa Court and Middle Earth?

Tostado, try to make as many friends as possible, and have them swipe you in!

is campus village hard to get for your 3rd year??

I’ll tell you guys now, while its great to be on campus and all, CV is really really ghetto. I live in VDC Norte, where housing is villa style apartments. So going from the VDC/VDCN area, it feels like going from Beverly Hills to the slums of LA. It sounds harsh, but thats how different they are. I have a double in VDC Norte, the room is huge (twice the size of the triple in Middle Earth) and I’m paying $547 a month. There’s high speed internet, and everyone today got a free cable box. Also, we’re only a 10 minutes walk from the ARC and there are pretty much parties every night. Only downside is having an 8 am class and the fact that if you’re on ATT, you will have zero reception here.

I just wish we could have VDC style housing on campus :(

How is CV “really really ghetto”?

Honestly “ghetto” is just from people who are used to the luxuries of VDC/Norte and now Camino Del Sol. All of those places are SUPER nice. So by default CV becomes the crappiest apartment. CV itself isn’t bad. The outside isn’t anything pretty (compared to the off campus aptments), if you consider that a con. And the inside isn’t impressive either. But when I visited I thought it was really “homey.” It’s comfortable and as close to classes as you can get. There’s only one bathroom for 4 people, but if your roomies aren’t slobs or bathroom hoggers, it shouldn’t be too bad. So yeah, just think of VDC and all the other off campus apartments as super nice and CV as the bare minimum (with the plus of being reeeeeally close to class). Which is nothing bad, although a lot of people make it seem like it is.

And to answer your question, Tostado, it really changes everything after knowing you’re a freshman. CV is best if you can’t afford ME/Mesa. But I highly, highly recommend ME/Mesa if you have the money or are willing to take loans. It’s THE easiest way to make friends and really be involved in all activities with freshmen. CV is a lot quieter and your roommates will probably not be freshmen so they won’t be sharing the same experience as you.

In what world is CV “ghetto?” It’s nicer than a lot of the student housing that i’ve seen at other universities, as a matter of fact.

Somehow my check for my housing application was received late and I was put on the waitlist for housing, so ME/Mesa isn’t an option.
The good news is that there are 64 spaces for freshmen at CV and we’ll be clustered into groups of four. But if I had a choice, I would live in ME or Mesa.

Hi im also on the waitlist. and was wondering did they give out all the offer for CV yet?

They said the offers would come most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday. Good luck! :)

Oops. I mean 8/10 or 8/11. :D

Aww, I see! Well that’s pretty good news though! Maybe you’ll all be a tight knit group since you guys will have to stick together! haha :)
