Can anyone tell me about transferring to these schools

University of Washington
Western Washington University
University of Oregon
Gonzaga University

I'm a Community College student with a 3.5 GPA (1 class brought this down quite a bit, but an upward trend since it was during my first quarter at CC). I will have my AA.

There wasn't a whole lot on the transfer application about ECs for these schools and all the essays were fairly short (>1000 words), so does anyone know what I'm really being judged by here? I should hear back from WWU by early May, UW by July, Gonzaga around that time as well. Not really sure about Oregon.

Any help would be great, and I'd be glad to share more info.

Where are you a state resident?

The publics may tend to be more stats driven than the private. However, I’m not sure what gpas they’re looking for in transfers.

I’m a Washington state resident. My first choice is actually WWU because of my intended major. I know Washington state CC students are the priority, however they went from accepting around mid-60 percent of transfers for fall '10 to 57 percent for fall '11, so I’m just worrying a bit. I was wondering if maybe anyone has advice for me or can give me a guess of whether or not they think I could get in.

When I was a high school senior, the majority of individuals with similar stats to me were being accepted although at that time there acceptance rate was at about 74%. That’s becoming lower and lower every year, however.

Sorry, I don’t know too much about stats, etc. for transferring to WWU. Have you talked to a GC at your CC, they’d have the most experience with that information. You might try the WWU college forum, however it doesn’t look too active:

Is there a reason you’re applying to UO rather than WSU or another WA public? Are you hoping to get WUE?

I’m not applying to WSU because around here a lot of employers don’t take the education there seriously. WSU accepts around 82% of freshman and 90% of transfers. Not a whole lot of prestige or high ranking programs there unless one wants to be a veterinarian. Basically for the major I wish to go to a 4-year for, WWU is the best school for that followed by UW, OU and Gonzaga for around the area. I’m not applying to other WA publics mainly because of either programs, cost or reputation.

Thank you for the information you have provided me with, though. I appreciate it!
