Can I get into Cal Poly Pomona for computer science with a 2.6 GPA as a transfer?

I am currently a sophomore at the University of La Verne as a commuter (CA resident). The first year has been difficult for me with personal issues and also because I was declared as a Biology major which led me to receive many C's (No D's or F's). For fall 2013 I am taking a programming class which I am positive I will receive an A in, as for my other classes I believe I will receive A's and B's. Though is it possible for me to get in with such a low GPA, if not are there any other options (UC's or other CSU's)? What should I do?

It is hard to guess, since Pomona does not publish past thresholds for admission, unlike [San Jose](http://info.sjsu.edu/static/admission/impaction.html).

For safeties, non-impacted (for transfers) campuses where CS is not impacted (where a 2.0 GPA is needed for admission) include:

Bakersfield
Channel Islands
Dominguez Hills
East Bay
Humboldt
Monterey Bay
Northridge
Stanislaus

However, check the CS course offerings at each campus to make sure that they are suitable for you. For example, Monterey Bay’s CS department has more of an IT focus.

Of the above, Dominguez Hills and Northridge do have ABET accreditation in CS, if you need it for patent exam purposes or want it as a marker of meeting a minimum standard of quality.

Of course, you can apply for additional campuses like Pomona and San Jose (and UCs like Riverside and Santa Cruz), but should not expect them to be safeties. San Jose does have a similar software engineering major that has had lower thresholds for admission.
