I’m a junior and I want to major in business-although, getting into the business school at UT is really tough… And I may not be good enough for Texas A&M’s business school.my backup for these schools is economics. I was wondering if I could get into UT or A&M’s economics program at the liberal arts school. I know that my scores and gpa may not be the best but I’m still trying my best to get it up. Thanks!!
GPA weighted: 3.6
Unweighted GPA: 3.0
ACT:30
My SAT is too bad to send to those schools…
LOTS of business internships, and internships in general
Student leadership and in other programs at my school
Oh and I’ve been in many challenging classes, taken all honors/AP/pre-Ap since freshmen year. The max number of regular classes I have each year are 2
What is your class rank and are you in or out of state?
Top 25% would make it difficult to get into UT Austin (top 7% in a Texas high school is automatic admit, but those below are competing for a small number of spots with all out-of-state and international applicants, as well as in-state applicants from non-ranking schools). If you are within the top 25% and your 30 ACT includes at least a 27 in English and math, and you fulfill high school course requirements, you fall into the “academic [automatic] admit” category at Texas A&M: http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshman/admitted
If you do qualify for the academic admit at A&M, apply as early as possible once ApplyTexas opens on August 1st – that will maximize the chance that you get your major of choice, including business. Good luck!
