Can I still apply for aid for the Spring Semester and all subsequent ones?

So I applied to SEBS the other day (major is Ecology Evolution and Natural Resouces). I know I am not eligible for any aid, but is it possible for me to apply for some for the Spring and the rest of my semesters? Or would I seriously go through the rest of my time at Rutgers with absolutely no aid aside from FAFSA for my last three years???

I made a major mistake when applying to colleges and I fully regret ignoring Rutgers. Please tell me there is still hope aid-wise for me. I have excellent stats as well, and I feel as though my academic performance in high school will be virtually wasted -_-

3.58 Weighted GPA
1890 SAT
790 SAT2 BioEcology (1 wrong!!! WOO-HOO :D)
620 SAT2 Chem
Huge Trend in Grades (Fr: B's and C's, Soph:B's and A's, Jr: A's, Sr: A's)
I have AP Bio, Physics Honors, and will graduate with 6 college credits in English. 5 total science classes, four of which had a lab, and Algebra 1 all the way through an Advanced Algebra/Trig class (Pre-calc).
National Honor Society, Tennis, Science League, Ecology Club, and lots more.

....is this all to be wasted because I realized I could not afford my other school choices??

It is too late for this year ,even the spring semester, for scholarship. They award scholarships to their incoming freshmen only, somebody can correct me on that.
Financial aid is awarded based on availability, so go ahead and fill out that FAFSA because the deadline to fill it out is June I think.

Rutgers is still fairly cheap compare to other schools and you will get a response after filling out FAFSA really quick, so good luck.

Students must apply by the appropriate application due date to be considered for merit-based scholarships… so it is too late for this year. We actually award scholarships to freshman and transfers (NJ county college students only). As mentioned above, your best move would be to complete the FAFSA. If you have questions about financial aid, go to [Rutgers: Office of Financial Aid](http://studentaid.rutgers.edu/npc/default.aspx). Good luck.

FAFSA doesnt give me actual aid just Federal loans (I don’t even understand why on earth the gov’t even considers that “aid” -_-).

Soooo because I made one itsy, bitsy, teeny, tiny mistake in the grand scheme of my life when it came to applying to college (not even a mistake because I applied on time to all my other schools) and now realize money is going to be the greatest factor for choosing a college for me…I’m punished??? I thought in-state schools were supposed to help out in-state students? I worked soooo hard in my junior and senior years especially, so that I could get into AND get help from schools. I mean I’m still a Freshman after all, right? What makes me so different from everyone else that applied? Yes, I missed the deadline, but it wasn’t irresponsibility that caused that :frowning: And why is aid from schools such a one-shot deal? “Freshman and transfer ONLY” I just do not get it.

I have never felt worse in my life, and I feel like my past few years in High School have been pointless.

My situation is this: “I will be in $100,000 in debt if I go to my other schools, this is why I am looking at Rutgers now, because it offers an even better version of the program I want and for a reasonable in-state price, but I could still use a little help”

NOT this: “Yeah whatever, I applied late, I didn’t really care much about Rutgers anyway, but I still want money…”

Oh dear, I’m sorry for the attitude. I’m just so stressed out and I just do not know how my life is supposed to unfold if I’m boggled down in debt  …I still have to go to graduate school for my PhD AHHHHHH!!!

Don’t let the idea of you getting loans stress you out. Student loans are an investment in your future. Sure that 100,000 sounds like a lot of money to borrow, but the rewards are great afterward. Schools have to place deadlines so they know how much to distribute in scholarship and aid and without these deadlines, it will be difficult for them to predict.
Good luck!!

My recommendation would be to go to community college for 1 or 2 years. Do well, apply to Rutgers as a transfer, and you may get the aid you are looking for. In the meantime, you are saving money. This is what I did.

Yes, you made a small mistake (one that many other HS students also make), and cc is probably your best option if you hope for merit aid and do not want to pay a full year of Rutgers tuition.

Even if you had applied on time, you may not have gotten any merit aid. My S1 had higher stats than you, community service, etc, and was not offered merit aid by Rutgers, although he was offered merit aid at other schools. So don’t feel too bad.
