Okay so how does this work?!
My freshman year I received a 1.92 GPA, sophomore year i received a 2.33 GPA and junior i received a 2.8 GPA.
Do I even stand a chance for a CSU? My SAT score was acceptable and that’s what made me reconsider my college choices. Also my grades went up from freshman year to junior year so i feel like colleges can really respect that. For senior year i’m planning on taking an AP art class and AP English class. By doing this i’m really hoping it’ll improve my GPA. Rumor has it that colleges love to see people progress. I feel like this is what makes me stand out from other candidates when applying. I’m definitely a student whose grown and struggled. I have a couple recommendation letters from my past teachers and i’ve done tons of volunteer work. I’ve also been on the schools Water Polo for 3 years if that makes a difference …
CSU’s are stats driven so your CSU GPA and SAT score are what you need to calculate your eligibility index.
Here is a link for the CSU/UC GPA calculator: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
The calculator will only take into account your 10-11th grades, so Senior grades will not be considered in your admissions decision. You also need to the meet the minimum CSU a-g course requirements. Grades of D or F need to be retaken or validated based on the CSU matrix. If you do not meet the a-g course requirements, your application will not be considered.
http://www.ucop.edu/agguide/a-g-requirements/files/UC_CSU%20ComparisonMatrix.pdf
Eligibility index calculation is as follows: (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math+SAT CR)
Applicants are ranked based on EI and major and are accepted from the highest EI down until all the spots are filled.
It is possible to get into a CSU if you meet the a-g course requirements and have an above 2.0 GPA. Intended major will make a difference on your chances especially if the major is impacted. Impacted majors and impacted CSU campuses will have than average requirements for admission.
You probably need to look at non-impacted campuses such as Monterey Bay, Stanislaus, Channel Islands, East Bay, Dominguez Hills… for your best chances. If these schools are not to your liking, you can attend a CC and then transfer in 2 years to a more desirable campus.
Here is the CSU impacted campuses and majors:

If you have any more questions, PM me. It would be helpful to know your CSU GPA, SAT score and EI.
Good luck.
thank you sm
Your grades are headed the right direction - assuming you complete the a-g course list with a C or better, the non-impacted CSUs are viable options.
Good luck
