Can I Take Classes at Another School and Then Finish at FSU?

To clarify I was planning on graduating next fall, but I would really like to attend the Law Enforcement Academy at Pat Thomas/TCC to supplement my Criminology degree. So what I want to do is take next fall off of FSU and attend the Academy and then come back to FSU in the spring. Does anyone know how this works?

My main motivation for this is so that I can receive financial aid for the academy and if I get bachelor's beforehand then I won't be able to get aid after graduating.

I think you can take one semester off without worrying about re-enrolling.

I think this link on their website will be more helpful in answering your question though about leaving for a sememster:

Yea I read that. I just don’t know if I’m able to attend another school during that semester and remain a current student. I plan on seeing an adviser later this week so maybe they will be able to clarify.

FSU students can attend other colleges as a visiting ‘transient’ student from FSU. I’ve done it twice attending my hometown community college for classes in the summer. Your academic advisor is the one to talk to about what’s involved doing it. She and a bunch of deans have to ok a transient approval form that is done online. Too, they’ll make sure the coursework at the other college is transferable back to FSU.

One big downer is that, though you can get financial aid for the other school, you have to advance all fees including tuition at the other school out of your own pocket first and then after classes start at the other school FSU financial aid will then pay you…you have to wait a few weeks.

Hmm, well this won’t count for anything at fsu. Did you get aid from fsu or the other college and then it was disposed through fsu?

All my financial aid stuff was processed by the FSU financial aid office. The only thing the other school did was take my money for tuition and give me a receipt which I gave copy of to FSU Financial Aid. I guess you need to talk to the advisors at both schools and the financial aid offices too at both schools. Good luck.
