I
m an econ major at Uconn and I
m thinking of transferring. However, in my freshman year I got a very low gpa. Now I
m a sophomore this year, and I
m planning to raise my gpa by retaking some classes in the academic year plus summer session. I
m wondering if I can transfer after my sophomore year either in the spring term of my junior year or right after my junior year. Are there any school that accepts more than 60 credits? btw the schools that I
m considering are

Tulane
Syracuse
Maryland
BU
GWU

and where else would you recommend me to apply with more than 60 credits?

Thanks...

I hate to tell this but it`s 2.44

no chance at tulane bro, are u in state at uconn?

I`m an international student. but what if I raise my gpa to 3.5? still no chance?

how would you raise is that high with that many grades man?

well at uconn they consider the most recent grade you get to calculate your gpa when you retake a class and ignore the first one. I just need to retake 3 or maybe 4 classes and 2 of them are fairly easy (I got bad grades on them just because of my lazyness), and the other two, I believe that I can get considerably higher grades on them. Briefly, it`s not impossible.

well what would your transcript look like then? do they just say that the class was a retake, or do they show the grade u earned the first time also?

they show both your first and last grades you have got on the class, but you earn credit for that class just for once. so yeah I know that that C`s and D(only one) will look bad on my transcript.

so youd be applying out of state to maryland? i dont think youll get into gwu or tulane, you have a good shot at syracuse and bu, and i think youll get into maryland although im not real familiar with how they handle out of state applicants

I thought Tulane was easier to get into than BU. but anyways, for now The only thing I
m wondering is whether or not it
s fine to transfer with more than 60 credits to these schools. I just checked the web sites of BU, Syracuse and Tulane, and I guess all of them offer admission for senior transfers. So that`s the good news.

yes it is fine to transfer with more than 60 credits, but im assuming a lot of your credits wont transfer, but you can generally transfer a maximum of 60 credits...no tulane is much more difficult to transfer into than bu, its pretty difficult to get into tulane as a transfer unless you have a 3.5+ gpa...a guy on here posted a month or two ago he was rejected with a 3.8 gpa, but got admitted to vanderbilt, emory, and notre dame so that goes to show you that its a gamble...id apply anyways and see if you get in, youll never know if you dont apply.

yeah, I
ll apply anyways and not a big deal if I can
t get into. Thanks for your help.

denizco, don't lose your hope! It doesn't matter what others say. It's how much effort you putted on your transfer preparation. I hope you know what i'm trying to say.
