Can I transfer out of community college after a year or 2 semesters

Hello, I’m a 17 year old senior about to graduate in a couple weeks and I have planned to go to this community college for a single year but although I wish to transfer after two semesters. The reasons why I’m going to cc college is because I never took the act nor the sat and generally my cumulative gpa gradually went down junior year because I was going through a really tough family time and because of my possible depression. Ever since elementary school until 8th grade I have always been an A+ and honor student but after the death of my uncle during that spring of 8th grade things went down for me , freshman year of high school is when I started getting c’s and my parents gave me a lot of shit for that but if was also the year that I started noticing my moods and my problems and again I asked my parents if I could get help for the possible depression ( it is something that has always ran in my family ) but they refused saying that it was going to kill my future and yeah I agree with them now because of all the stigma and discriminations people have of people who suffer from a mental disorder , things still went down for me but I still kept a cumulative gpa of 3.0 things were better until my junior year when I really thought that it was going to be the end of me and as a result my cumulative gpa went down to a 2.82 , I started my senior year with the mindset of making up for everything but nope the classes I took and the grades were really challenging so at this point im still going to graduate with 2. Something

I’ve always wanted to become a doctor but knowing that my problems are still untreated it’s going to be really challenging for me and also the university that I wish to transfer to which is the university of Iowa has these transfer requirements of if you are transferring with less than 24 semesters hours you have to submit your sat and act scores and final high school transcript and we’ll my highschool grades don’t look too good

Two different answers:

  1. Please get help. The stigma is not as much as you think. Not getting treatment will continue to keep you from reaching your maximum potential.
  2. You need to stay at a CC for two years so you can get help (#1) and then establish a track record of success. There are multiple threads right now on students who were rejected becuase they applied after one year (effectively one semester) and had not strengthened their academic record from HS.
