Can somebody help me better understand the UC statewide path

I qualify for the path with a 1670 sat and 4.0 uc gpa (25 act composite), i know those test scores are low and theyre killing my self esteem, so it looks like i may have to rely on the statewide path, anyways how would i apply for it. Also if i apply for ucm and ucr, and by chance i get rejected by both will the statewide path allow me enterence to them or...? I know little about the statewide path and the website offers little herp. Can somebody with knowledge or experience help me out please. Oh! And final question, it says that the statewide path relies on space availability, is there often availibility.
P.S sorry if this post sounds like rambling, im just trying to express my ideas as they come.
(Sorry for spelling mistakes im writing on an unfimiliar ipad keyboard)

I assume you plugged your STATs into the calculator to determine that you are eligible by the statewide path for UC acceptance. You do not apply for the eligibility, it will be calculated by the UC’s in which you are applying based on your reported grades and test scores. The guarantee is if you do not gain acceptance into a UC of your choice, you will be referred to UC (Merced) if you did not originally apply. Since you are in the top 9%, there should be space available at UCM and I have not heard to the contrary.
Your GPA is competitive, so I would try the SAT or ACT again. Also you are eligible to apply to UCR for their guaranteed admission program based on your current SAT/ACT and GPA. You have until July 31, so hurry. Here is the link: <a href=“New Students | Apply | Undergraduate Admissions | UC Riverside”>https://vcsaweb.ucr.edu/gap/index.aspx

I already applied but i dont think ill be accepted into GAP because i had a 3.5ish freshman year (which is not included in uc gpa) so my cumulative is now 3.83ish, and you need a 3.9 i believe, idk ive already applied for it so i guess its in fates hands. Anyways so what you’re saying is if i apply to merced and get rejcted by them, my statewide path application is considered null? Well that puts me into a predicament bc the college that i want to go to is merced (as it fits my scores and stuff). Do you think that i should apply to uc merced, or rely on my statewide path application

Why do you assume you won’t get into Merced? Apply to Merced (if that is where you want to go). DO NOT rely upon the statewide path for admittance to Merced. Statewide path admittance is only IF there is room available (and in the past there has been room in Riverside and Merced).

You are saying your weighted GPA for a-g requirements is not 3.9??? I personally think UCM/UCR are definite matches and I would apply to both including UCSC since your UC GPA is at 4.0.
If you can get your SAT to 1900 or ACT to 28 you might have a chance at UCI/UCD/UCSB. Write good essays and Good Luck.
