Can someone grade my SAT essay please?

Prompt: Is it important to question the ideas and decisions of people in positions of authority?

It is very important to question what the authorities claim to be true. Asking the authorities makes a society stronger and better. Moreover, questioning is the only way to detect flaws in a system and get them atoned. Several examples from history support this assertion.

Rosa Parks, often regarded as the mother of freedom simply asked the conductor of the bus why should she stand when she paid the full-fare and boarded the bus before those white people who claim her seat to be theirs. This action led to a revolutionary change in the history of black community. The bus boycott by the black people lasted 381 days and succeeded in transforming her initiative into an equality law.

Another example which supports my stand is of Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela questioned the colonizers, why the people of South Africa should be treated as slaves? His voice reached the billion hearts of South Africa and succeeded in bringing a revolution which ended with democracy being established in the country.

It is not that every time the authorities are wrong and we should not just start intriguing the authorities without having proper claim, evidence and support. No doubt, the path of change is difficult as Rosa Parks thrown into prison without a charge and Mandela had to spend 27 years of his life in prison, but if it is for a good cause, we will achieve success. Mahatma Gandhi has rightly said, Be the change, you wish to see in the world.

4-5. You have two short examples. If u added a third i would have given you a definite 5. Or if your examples were a bit longer. Also, both of your examples were from history. Try to pull from literature as well. Or current affairs.

Also, you should have posted this in the SAT prep forum. Not the india forum.

Muhammad is right 4-5

It’d be a 4-5. I noticed you used a format similar to the one on CC (How to get a 12 essay in 10 days) or something. I think that format is really overused, and it might be better to come up with one of your own.

“The bus boycott led by the black people” is very un Politically Correct (which yes, will get you marked down). The correct phrase is African Americans.

“questioning is the only way to detect flaws in a system and get them atoned” atoned is wrong there, we would use something more like “corrected”.

“questioned the colonizers,” questioned is wrong there, asked makes more sense. The comma is also incorrect. Oh and then sentence should end in a period, not a ?

“It is not that every time the authorities are wrong and we should not just start intriguing the authorities without having proper claim, evidence and support” This sentence makes no sense. I have no idea what you’re trying to say. Too many negatives/contradicting statements. Aslo intriguing is TOTALLY wrong there. Intriguing means interesting or worthy of consideration. Intriguing is an adj, not a verb. You cannot be “intriguing” anything. You can be intriguing to someone or you can be intrigued by something or something can be intriguing.

“as Rosa Parks thrown into prison without a charge” as Rosa Parks WAS thrown into prison (also just a history note she was absolutely charged. You can disagree with whether the charge was valid but a charge was made).

“we will achieve…” Nope, we is not to be used in this type of essay. Too personal.

Out of 12 I would give you a 3 or 4. The grammar and word choice is incorrect often. You’ll be competing against native speakers who have to worry about sounding concise and engaging. The vocab and the grammar (mostly) is ingrained so making those kind of mistakes is really damning.
