<p>Topic: Is it better for a society when people act an individuals rather than copying the ideas and opinions of others?</p>
<p>Everyone has their own ideas, opinions and beliefs. The world would lose its creativity if we were just duplicates of each other.
I have met a person who would want to do exactly what their elder sibling did. Sarah, my cousin, always aspired to be a doctor. Her younger sister, Aisha, followed her steps. She would study late at night to get into a good medical college. However, she failed to do so and was disheartened. Just because her sister wanted to become a doctor didn't mean she had to do the same thing! She was her own person and had her own interests. Aisha later on pursued a career in something she actually loved and was good at.
On a heavier note, the most influential designers of time, Coco Chanel changed the course of fashion largely during World War II. It was her who introduced the idea of the 'Little Black Dress'. At the time, it seemed bizarre to wear black anywhere but at funerals or mournings. Chanel showed how it was okay to wear black any other day. She also introduced the idea of pants and the use of jersey material in women's clothing. Though these ideas were, at the time, unfamiliar in society, Chanel didn't let that stop her from expressing herself.
In another perspective, having a different opinion from others makes us who we are. For instance, in the TV show 'Friends', Mike was against marriage as opposed to Phoebe. Even though they split up for a while, their love for each other drove them close again. This proves that Mike had accepted Phoebe's opinion and accepted Phoebe herself as she was.
In the end, being ourselves, different from others, makes us who we are. It creates diversity and increases creativity among human minds, As Gandhi once said, 'My life is my message.'</p>
