PS:is my GPA acceptable for these schools:
Cornell,Johns Hopkins,NYU,University of Virginia,Georgetown,Georgia Tech,CUNY's Macauley Honors,SUNY Binghamton,Boston Univeristy and College.
BTW,my class rank is either low top 10% or high top 20%.(because i didnt take weighted classes in my freshman yr,it hurt a lot.....{becuz im am immigrant and my freshman yr was my 1st yr to come to this country,so i couldnt take w. class })

about 3.8 UW (3.799 to be exact).

It depends on your school’s system, but under my school’s system, that would be 3.8105

i know that most of the colleges recalculate my GPA anyway, however,is it true that generally my GPA will be about 3.8 UW?

Your GPA is fine for those schools. And yes, judging based on my school’s grading system, not taking weighted classes would hurt your ranking a lot.

By the way, I have a feeling you’re from NY.

^yup! I am from NY. you?

So,my GPA is fine?? but my class rank is not that good…

Cornell and John Hopkins may be somewhat of a reach, but they’re reaches for most of us. Although your GPA may be a little low for some of those top schools, colleges also consider your extracurricular activities and especially your SAT scores, among many other factors, so you never know. It’s kind of too late to make a big difference in your average and ranking, but if you write a really good essay that stress your personal assets and get great recommendations, you have a good chance at most of these schools. I personally know someone from my high school who got into NYU this year without good GPA. And yeah, I’m from NY too! (I guessed based on the schools you’re applying to.)

3.816 (rounded)

A 3.8 unweighted GPA is not a “little low.” There’s really nowhere that you can GO from a 3.8, except to a 3.9 or a 4.0. This is a student who only has three Bs on his or her entire transcript. That’s not a “little low,” that is awesome and should be applauded, really.

I guess you could say that it is a “little low” if this were a WEIGHTED GPA, but since it’s not, that’s absurd.

Your GPA is absolutely fine. I wouldn’t worry about that.

whats a 94/100 on the 4.0 scale?

^ thread hijacker
but it’s impossible to say anyways. i’d say around 3.9

and a 3.8 is fine seriously.

I don’t know if its a NY thing, but my school has a very weird scale as well; especially for weighted grades, and I have no idea how it converts.
