E.g. I applied as Economics and I want to appeal for another major
Did you get admitted for Economics?
I highly doubt that they will let you appeal for a different major. Did you change your mind for your career direction or are trying to get admission into an easier major just to get in?
@derprage - No, appeal implies that I was rejected.
@Gumbymom - I have not committed to any career paths yet. I had several options that I decided on and applied for my most competitive one. The major that I plan to appeal with would definitely be a less competitive one.
So @se1997 you are on the waitlist??
@Gumbymom No.
So why are appealing a change in major? You attend Freshman orientation in the major you have been admitted with, then after Fall quarter you fill out the paperwork to change your major. In the first year, you are taking GE’s and Pre-req so you will be fine switching majors after the first quarter.
I was under the impression that you were either rejected or waitlisted so I answered accordingly. You need a change of major not an appeal
You wouldn’t know unless you try. Call and ask addmission.
I am assuming you are appealing from a rejection and want to try to get in as a different major? Honestly, unless the program you listed is super impacted (engineering, etc), I doubt the major you selected (at least for econ) would have been a big game changer admissions-wise. If you did get accepted, it’s easy to just change your major as a student. Really not complex at all. Just select general ed courses for your first semester, then switch majors officially later on.
No point; you can change majors in college. Don’t risk getting rejected for something like that. You can easily change major (even into engineering, as long as you have the GPA).
