can you change majors after you get accepted?

Eh, I applied as mech engineering. Since the app said it wouldn't matter much (which seems to be a lie...) I didn't put much time thinking about it when I put it down. I was wondering if i could change my major after I get accepted.

And what's up with EECS? Is EECS in Berkeley exceptionally prestigious?

Thanks for the replies in advance.

From what I know, EECS at Berkeley is harder to transfer into, but it should be fine since you applied under engineering. The major doesn't count (supposedly) only for applicants to the College of Letters and Sciences.

MechE is in CoE, so it'll be easier to transfer since you're in the college (as opposed to being in L&S).

I'd say EECS is somewhat prestigious. Majoring in EECS isn't exactly an easy thing to do here at Cal.
