Canadian vs American!

Which one do you think is better?

Going to the BEST Canadian university or going to an "okay" American university?

Which one will be better for grad school?

merci!

That the same student got into both, and not a better than okay American college, should tell you something.

Great response, Post #2! And it may depend on where you want to go to grad school.

If you are Canadian, I'd say stay in Canada for college: it's much cheaper than going to school in the US and you can easily get into a top US graduate school with a McGill or Toronto degree.

It's much better to study in a G13 Canadian university than a mid-range American one. For grad, in most programs, there are likely quite a few better AAU (excluding McGill and UofT) universities than G13s.

ferryboat that was a horrible response...canadian universities are quite different... getting into them is quite easy but staying in and doing well can be challenging. It seems completely opposite in the states. U of T and McGill and UBC have better reps than a lot of the top 20 american colleges internationally. For example, a Mc Gill degree is recognized by more people around the world than a Notre Dame degree. People will disagree but that is the truth of the matter.

Canadian universities offer as good of an education as most top US universities... differences are that Canadian universities do not get as much funding and classes are much bigger. If you are planning to work in the US, i'd recommend going to the US. If you are not, a good Canadian university kills an 'okay' American university.

Lastly, having a high acceptance rate has little to no bearing on a university's quality of education. There are not a lot of universities up here compared to the States. That is why acceptance rates are rather high.

Thanks Shad Faraz! I am still not sure if I should go to the States or stay here... but I guess I am going to apply to both.. and see.
Do a lot of American companies hire people with Canadian degrees? Like UBC and Toronto?
