CAP Q&A

Say I was sent to an alternative school after I sent my application, should I report this and if so, how?

@mylonghorn Thanks. Weird how the just slid that one little sentence in there like it was nothing. “Admission to specific majors within the college of liberal arts is not guaranteed” what… lol. Still gonna do CAP and hope for the best!!

So I just called the UT office here in Houston and asked the lady what is guaranteed to me upon completion of CAP and she said “So any major in the COLA” and then I told her about the clause in the paragraph and she said well i’ll give you a call later today and let you know, some LA majors could be seperate from the guaranteed ones… WHAT? lol …

Within COLA there are a few restricted majors. IRG, Psychology and Geography - Environmental Science track come to mind. Those would require apps for current students, so they might not be guaranteed for CAP either

Anyone else receive their financial aid?

@MyLonghorn I noticed that you said that writing composition 1 and 2 are required, but what if I already have the AP credit for it? Austin accepts a 3, 4, and 5 for the English Language and Composition exam, so couldn’t I just wait until I got there to claim the credit? I am going to UT Arlington for my CAP year.

Also, what do you mean when you said that major related courses do not transfer? I was going to take macro and micro econ in place of the ENGL 1301 and ENGL 1302 (the equivalent of writing composition 1 and 2 at UTSA), and I want to major in economics once I go to Austin (because it is guaranteed, as far as I’m aware). Does this mean that I will have to retake the intro economics courses once I get to Austin?
Thank you, hopefully this comment isn’t too late!!!
