There is no UTSA forum so I have to post this question on here.
I got capped at UT Austin, and plan on attending UTSA for a year and hopefully transferring into UT Austin. How hard is it to transfer through CAP into UT Austin for computer science? What do I need to do? And does UTSA have a good computer science program?
The only thing I can say that if you wanted to stay at UTSA is that they have one of the top cyber security schools I believe.
im a current CAP student , whose transferring at the end of this semester and originally wanted to transfer into CS like you , but decided to change into ECE , and that is because you literally need a 4.0 transfer GPA to be considered for CS due to spaces available, and i don’t think my 3.94 would suffice sadly
Literally little to no shot, the computer science department is so overrun according to what I heard.
@MyLonghorn was it really hard to make a 3.9 at utsa. I’ll be a cap student there next year and I was just wondering.
@MyLonghorn also are you housing on campus or off?
@SammySosa I’m on campus housing and if your CAP definitely stay on Campus , you’ll meet so many more CAP students and its nice , also getting a 3.94 or even a 4.0 isn’t difficult if you do work , also depends on how much rigor you went through in high school , i took 9 AP classes so i was sorta of use to the rigor so it wasn’t too much of a learning curve , but if you didnt no worries , its just going to take some adjusting and dedication.
@MyLonghorn yeah thank god those late night/early morning studying are going to come in handy
UTSA isn’t even that bad of a school. I’m actually transferring, but it’s a good school for cyber security like another poster said. You might find that you like it here, and it’s super hard to CAP if you don’t have a really competitive GPA. If you’re going to come here, definitely consider the fact that you might have to stay here.
