CC Cornell Applicants - Class of 2012

I c, excuse me while I go hang myself

no matter how freezing cold the weather is, i really want to go to Cornell!!

^^ lets see how you feel if your wishes come true and you last through march

i already submitted app RD... i have a pretty low gpa for a cornell applicant but high scores and good ec's ... i think...

anyways i have an alumni interview... im psyched to rock my red sweater vest

Would Conell low the requirement for International students? I just got my critical reading 640, but it is relatively high in my country. Hope someone would be so kind to hang out International student information in applying to Conell. $-ll
The information provided makes me flabbergasted!

Still really hope to attend in......

no, intls have even higher competition than domestic applicants. You should take the sats in january, or I can almost guarantee you wont get in. Im not trying to be mean either, its just the truth.

buccaneer, i would recommend taking the TOEFL exam.

when does cornell send out decisions? March 20? March 15?

Hello everyone,

I realize there have been a great deal of posts on here recently about the Hotel School, but I really need to hear some honest opinions aside from those of the admissions faculty
at the Hotel School.

I am a sophomore in college at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I applied to transfer to the Hotel School for spring
semester 08, and was harshly rejected. However, I have reapplied for fall transfer 09, and I am determined to get into this school. Through out my application process,
I have definitely interacted with the office a lot, which hopefully helps.

My stats however, are not very impressive: HS GPA: 3.55, College GPA: 3.4, SAT Overall: 1640, ACT: 21

I have ample work experience in the restaurant industry (my concentration) and was also a barista. I am currently involved in two major-related clubs at my college and was
drummer for a best-selling band. I had a great interview, and my interviewer said he would recommend me to the school. My 6 professor recommendations (combining the ones from last app)
are excellent, and I also submitted letters of rec from employers and an alumni of the Hotel School. This very alumni actually found out from the office
that it was my "academic standing" that got me initially rejected. However, they only accepted 5 external transfer students for spring semester.

What are my honest chances guys? Any advice? Not like I can do much now, but honestly, I submitted very thorough essays and addition ones, a resume, a plan of study, my
band's album to the department of music, and now have the potential advantage of being a re-applicant...?

What do you guys honestly think my chances are?

sorry, but probably not good. a 21 ACT is really low. I mean, try of course and hope for the best. Just don't bet on it

actually i'm editing this; i missed you were a sophomore in college. a 3.4 isn't a stellar gpa, but it raises your chances, imo. still, it's a long-shot, but who knows.

hey guys! i just got accepted as a transfer and I will be in the class of 2012!!! WOOT!!!

btw, does this still need to be “importanted” at the top of this forum? we’re rising sophomores now! :D

@buccanner
Please don’t feel bad, I got 590…

Does anyone know if int’l TOEFL scores will be considered AT ALL??? Because that would probably save me from going directly into the rejection pile…117/120 iBT.
