no u don't need sat.

LateReg. You said you were from DVC? Me too. I talked to the counselors here about agreements with UCLA and UCB, but they say there's nothing like that.

DVC doesn't have a national honors program either- all they have is AGS, which is student-run, I believe.

when are you applying?

DVC doesn't have a national honors program either- all they have is AGS, which is student-run, I believe.

when are you applying?
Yea I'm at DVC. I started this year (spring '05)- at the end of this semester I'll have 29 units, so I wont be applying for a minute. I dont have any ECs yet, so I'll try to hit up AGS and some clubs next semester/might make my own.

I havent spoke with any counselors (have yet to set foot in the transfer center), but I checked the DVC site- there's nothing for UCB or UCLA, but there are agreements for UCSD and UCD. I was hoping other CCs nearby had programs for LA or Berkeley, but from my understanding Berkeley doesnt have any programs with any CC and LA only has them with SoCal CCs =\
However, close to 200 students transfered to Berekely from DVC last year, so it can be done without a transfer agreement.

Where/When are you planning to transfer and with what major?

The transfering center is about as good as useless, so don't worry about never going there :-)

I'm applying as we speak actually. I'm an Econ major and applying to UCB, UCLA, USC, Uchicago, and possibly Cornell (haha, it may be a waste, but who knows?). What about you? What are your plans?

highschoolda:

I wanted to PM you, but it appears to be disabled. I just wanted to let you know I'm available for advice regarding earth science/geology majors. I'm a graduate student of geology and had to learn a lot of stuff the hard way...so please feel free to ask me any questions you have as they arise about geology!

Cheers!

oh thanks man, i need so much advice, i don't even know where to start

I had no idea why it was blocked, but i enabled it now..

what are my chances for ucla if i am going to ccc for only one year, but i'm in TAP, choosing an un-impacted major, will have a decent gpa around 3.5 (from one semestre of this fall), will complete igetc and TAP by my second semetre at ccc. also my ccc is extremely tiny in the middle of a desert in southern california. do uc's dislike students that went to college for only one year instead of two?

Yeah, you'll probably be rejected--excelling in your education is frowned upon.

So what exactly are the impacted/non impacted majors at UCLA/Cal?
[/quote]

I'll answer the Cal since someone already answered for UCLA.

It's been known that Social Science department is the most impacted department out of all (23% acceptance rate), and the three most popular majors (overall in Berkeley) are all in the SS department:

1.) Psychology
2.) Economics
3.) Political Science.

Engineering Department is equally impacted department with 23% acceptance rate, and the there most impacted majors are:

1.) Environmental Engineering Science (17%)
2.) Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (20%)
3.) Engineering Mathematics and Statistics (23%)

Besides these two Deparment, some of the most impacted majors in Berkeley are:

1.) Business (8%)
2.) Forestry and Natural Resource (11%)
3.) Nutritional Science (12%)
4.) Landscape Architect (17%)
5.) Chemistry (19%)
6.) Chemical Biology (20%)

Due to the time being, I won't list the entire list, instead you can go to http://students.berkeley.edu/files/Admissions/Transfer_07.pdf for the full stat.

Hope this helped.

but really, shouldn't the uc's consider my situation more carefully? i mean i completed most of my igetc through ap's in hs and my ccc is extremely tiny to have varied courses (on top of that the campus is split into two, so even more restricting in terms of offering varied emission of classes), so i'd have nothing to do in the second year of my college. the uc's should put me on the same footing as those applying after two years' stay. completing igetc and tap should be enough to satisfy at least some of the uc's, right??

sauron,

Cardinal was kidding. You'll have a good shot. I transferred in a year, actually.

yeah, basically. That's pretty impressive considering it takes most people about three years to transfer into the UC system...
