cell phone service

I'm just wondering what providers seem to work best in the gettysburg area, since my contract with cingular just expired...

Ha...I was just there on Saturday. Our Cingular service worked great.

Verizon works well. Maybe too well (LOL)
Springfieldmom, has your D made a decision?

babar, yes she has...unfortunately, it's not Gettysburg. It has nothing to do with Gettysburg (which she has always loved) but everything to do with her. She's an extremely outgoing, gregarious girl who thought that Gburg would be a perfect match for her for maybe 2 years but she was afraid she'd outgrow it. Her ultimate goal is to go into the publishing field in NYC, so she decided she needed to look beyond those 2 years and pick a larger school with more opportunities for connections, internships, etc. She just didn't think Gburg would offer enough of what she needed. Besides, she was afraid if she picked Gburg she'd be picking it for the wrong reasons (i.e. to please her Mom) and I agree with her. After she narrowed it down to 2 schools, she picked the larger school. She's going to Penn State [sigh].

I guess I should be happy that Gburg was first runner up, but I must admit I'm disappointed. Oh well, at least I get to eat Creamery ice cream and go to PSU football games for 4 years!

Ah well. You know, I used to think small schools were the way to go but I see that there are important attributes of big schools, too. A friend of mine's son is at PSU and loves it...I also think a G'burg alum and board member (current or emeritus?) is the director of athletics at PSU but I could be really confused...I am running to work or I would check my facts!

Yeah, we had a good cry on Monday after she told us. My H is happy about PSU (he never went to college, but he's a huge PSU football fan). We all agree it's the right choice for her, but it was so hard to let go of the terrific FA package Gburg offered.

At least I still get to go to homecoming and reunions at Gburg! She says she's going to come with me.

SpringfieldMom, I know what you mean. One of my kids is at the right school for him...and it's on another coast...but it's so wonderful to be able to let them go and respect who they are...You can adopt a G'burg student or two along the way and you WILL love the school spirit at PSU! Stay connected to G'burg and just expand your circle to include one more institution!
