doesn't the bold have a relatively small screen compare to other blackberrys? (except for pearl of course) and im also very curious about whether or not i have to get data plan... btw i thought e71 isn't even out in US yet...

cell phone reps like to lie because they get commission for features like text and data. there is absolutely nothing in the at&t terms of service saying that you must get a data plan with a blackberry or any other PDA/smartphone. the only exception to that is the iphone, which is explicitly stated in the TOS that it MUST have a data plan.

the only thing is you might be required to have an active data plan if there is a mail in rebate involved, but you can remove the data plan after you get the rebate. (if you do the math, the rebate might not even be worth it. say its a $50 rebate, which requires you to have a $30 data plan for 2-3 months...)

e71 has been out for a couple months i think? i do have the north american version so its definitely out, lol.

the bold should have about the same physical sized screen as most other blackberries. same basic form factor of a candybar qwerty phone, so i dont see how it could be much smaller if it is (the bold is actually bigger than the curve in size). the screen resolution is double the resolution of the curve's though.

FYI, blackberries cant do VPN. so if you're planning to just use wifi and you're in an area on campus where the wireless requires VPN, it wont work.

oh darn..that kinda sucks :/ so with 3G, we'll be able to access internet throughout the campus?

i think i'll get the data plan..haven't decided yet. and i don't mind the bold's screen size..it's such a sexy phone

btw thanks for the information VTE!!

thanks for the info VTEC, i just haven't seen a lot of e71s around then :( what is vpn? is it built into the ipod touches because i get wireless just about everywhere on campus with it and im fine with what i can get... now to think about it, i don't even need wifi on my phone lmao
