Chance and suggestions for schools? :)

Received a D in AP Chemistry. 730 on the SAT II...
I don't know where to explain this but, my situation is that during Junior year, in addition to the stress of all activities being alone for most of the time after my mother lost her job, I lost a very close relative that I had a close relationship with (Aunt) and was really devastated because I had been contacting her and visiting her since I was younger...Guidance counselor will be writing about this in her letter to colleges I'm applying to...other than that here are the stats

Opinions+suggestions?

Thanks!

Would I have a any chance with early decision at Johns Hopkins? Really want to go to Hopkins

I know predictions won't be accurate but I would still appreciate input and "chances"

Thank you and don't be too overly harsh

Are there any other very competitive schools similar to Hopkins I would have a better chance at if you think I have no chance?

Does this mean freshman THRU junior year?

The 3.45 is low for JHU. 76% have higher than that. Your SATs are competitive. <a href=“Registrar - Homewood Schools (KSAS & WSE) | Office of the Registrar | Johns Hopkins University”>Registrar - Homewood Schools (KSAS & WSE) | Office of the Registrar | Johns Hopkins University; Recommendations are weighted higher than SATs but not GPA. What do you want to major in? What is it about JHU that excites you? And possibly most important, what can your family afford?

Yes, its the gpa freshman through junior… I was excited by the Campus tour and what I’ve read about the research opportunities, the school size and experience from friends. My family can afford JHU and most schools I want to go into. Will I have a decent chance with a D on the transcript? What other highly competitive colleges do you recommend that would be more forgiving for circumstances I was in?
