Chance at CS with Terrible SAT math?

Sat 2060 (680 math, 690 cr, 680 writing)

Are these really poor scores for UIUC computer science?

Will my cr/writing scores make up for my math or is math all that matters for CS.

I started my app but after reading cc forums, I feel like its a sure rejection.

I expect the mid 50 ACT for CS to be 31-34 just similar to other engineering programs. SAT 2060 is near the low end of that range.

So I shouldn’t bother? Most likely a rejection?

Posterguy, I’d apply. It’s the only way you’ll know for sure.

Is that a nice way of telling me it’s a crap shot?
Lol

That’s crap “shoot”, but no. You’re near the lower end of the mid-50% of those admitted, so apply to know for sure.

You are near the low end of mid 50, that means you are better than ~25% of admitted students.

I am an international student from Nigeria

I’m guessing that works against me because UIUC is public.

I got into engineering with the same math score - go for it.

You’re an international student (at a time when Illinois needs that OOS money) from an underrepresented country with decent scores. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in.

I’m an international applicant. Applying to the College of Engineering for undergrad CS.
I have an SAT superscore of 2080 - 690 CR, 670 M, 720 W.
I have the same question as the OP - how badly will my Math score affect my chances? Also, how much importance does Illinois give to Writing scores?

ECs - president of my school’s computer club (we host this large scale computer symposium annually), school vice-captain, won quite a few regional to state level quizzes (also the student head of the quizzing club), a few olympiad certificates.

Academics - Illinois asks Indians to report only percentages from 10th grade board examinations, in which I have a 95% (translates into a 4.0 GPA I guess) with a 100 in Computer Science. Top 5% of my class. Current subjects - English, Physics, Chemistry, Math and CS. (TOEFL - 113/120, but that hardly counts)

So, what are my chances of getting in? Chances for DGS, if accepted not to the engineering college?
