List of schools that you're applying to:

Ivies are all reaches :). I expect you will probably get reject from some of the ivies but you probably will get into a few. If you write good essays, then maybe you will get into most of them. Every other poster will probably give you similar version of my preceding words. You already know ivies are reaches for everyone so why did you create a chance thread? Also you claim to have a lot of good ECs. Keep those up and they can increase your chances.

What if Cornell believes that he may be using Cornell as a safety. OP, I think you need to show interest in the application.

CMU, Cornell: Good chances

NYU, Michigan and UCB: Safeties

@IWillKillForMIT

Good point about Cornell. I’m not entirely sure how to show interest in that. If I get interviewed then I could always talk about what I know about Cornell and seem well-prepared, but how could I show interest apart from that?

And thanks for the feedback, everyone. Is there a decent chance for me to get into the UPenn Jerome Fisher M+T program, since I don’t really have business/tech EC’s?

Also, if you guys have any suggestions for colleges I should look at, please offer them. I’m good at science and tech, but I like politics/econ too, and my EC’s are politics/writing-focused, so I’m looking for a university that can balance STEM and liberal arts well, like Princeton.

Nobody can chance you when it comes to top 10 colleges.

Remember you are an Asian male from NJ.
You will get into some great colleges.

I am sure you have a decent chance at Jerome Fisher. Few people have true business related ECs. Just show them your leadership and outgoing nature. Also, could you tell how you became Huffington Post teen blogger. I want to become one but I have no idea how.

@IWillKill

I started the process through connections. I knew someone who knew the email of one of the directors of the teen blog, and I basically emailed her with an article proposition, and she gave me the steps to sign up. If you want, I could PM you the contact info.

Sure I would love it if you PMed me. Thank you.

Eh apparently i need 15 posts before PM is enabled. I’ll get back to you in a bit.

Envious of your SAT ! (btw is that superscored?) Also good EC’s. I say good chances/matches for 'cept for Stanford Princeton Yale - these are probably reaches

Chance me back?

…Bump…

Michigan will take you.

Congrats on the SAT score. I would focus on more of the unique ECs in your application, because you can be sure that everyone applying to those schools will have quiz bowl, science olympiad, etc.

Yale, Wharton, Stanford, UChicago and Princeton are reaches. Cornell seems like a high match or low reach. I think you have very good chance at getting in the rest. Your course-load looks really light for top schools, and besides your working for the Huffington Post, your ECs are extremely bland and common.

Chance me back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1507605-chance-hispanic-2400-ivies-mit-cambridge-will-chance-back.html

@Okay
Sure! Though I’m not sure how my courseload is light; I’m maximizing whatever is offered. The only way it could be more rigorous is if I dropped the elective, which is impossible because of graduation requirements.

Bump…

^^ Okay. I just figured that based on ECs and your location that more courses would have been offered. Two APs for 9th and 10th seemed like not very much.

I believe Wharton will accept you.

Bump…
