My daughter really enjoyed her visit to UCD. Just wondering what her chances are for admission. Her SAT's (1800) weren't incredible, but compared to CC's, looks low. Her unweighted GPA is 3.7 but she is taking 6 academic classes this year (her junior year) including 2 AP's so hoping it will raise her weighted GPA. She has over 300 hours of community service working weekly at a local hospital. 3 years volleyball as well as club volleyball in off season. No work experience yet, hoping to get job this summer.
so.... does she even have a chance?? I know most people on CC seem to be going science/engineering route but given that she is english/creative writing she wouldn't be going for an area that is highly impacted. What about some of the other UC's??
Thanks for your opinions and any advice

assuming instate I’d say:

UCD- in
UCR- in
UCM- in
UCSC- in
UCSB- match
UCSD- reach
UCLA- reach
UCB- reach

She would have a good shot, better if she can raise her SAT score a bit and add 650 plus SATIIs. The average SAT at Davis is about 1850.

Of course she has a chance, and UCD is a great choice for English/creative writing. spaceneedle ; you seem fairly certain, but the last two admission cycles were full of surprises, esp at UCD. Be aware that at UCD and some other UC’s, some of odds depend on what school the major you apply for is in. At UCD,for example, it’s not always obvious. Be sure your second choice major is in a different school from your first. I’m not sure. but English my or Mrs not be in a different school then say Animal Science or Animal Biology.
