chance me for:
princeton
dartmouth
NYU
UPenn (ED)
Cornell
columbia university

thanks! will chance back

any recommended safeties btw?

Grades are good… are you taking the most challenging courses available?
ECs also look pretty good. Just emphasize leadership and focus on the ones you are really committed to.
Of course schools like Princeton are a reach for everyone, but I’d say for non-Ivies you’re doing really well. Still, apply to the Ivies because you’re doing well and you never know what could happen! Best of luck!

I don’t know much about US safeties, because I’m from Canada. :stuck_out_tongue:

Care to chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1235081-chance-selective-schools-will-chance-back.html</a> Thanks.

Solid ECs, and it definetly shows that you’ve taken challenging courses in high school. SAT could be a bit low for some schools, particularly the writing section, so if you can take it again I would.

All Ivy Leagues are reaches - though applying ED to UPenn should give you an edge. I think you have great chances for NYU.

Chance me back! Not sure how to post a link to my thread, but the name of my thread is “Chance an Alaskan for top schools”

newbie -
I took the most challenging courses available to me; and that includes math. I’m really not great at math at all (I struggled like hell to get an A for the second semester in geometry; so if I took honors just to impress the adcoms I would’ve gotten a C for sure.)
I was the only student to take AP Spanish in my senior class.
and I was a year ahead of most students regarding science courses.

thanks for chancing! i’ll chance you back

penguinito22 - alaskan!? no way! man, I’d kill to go there!
“SAT could be a bit low for some schools, particularly the writing section” <<< I’m not quite sure what you mean by that. 800 is the highest score possible! :stuck_out_tongue:

and heck yeah, I’ll chance you back!

You have some really interesting ECs along with an overall great resume! Your math SAT score might be a little low for some of these schools, but you seem to have a great shot at many of these schools, especially if you can write killer essays. Definitely in at NYU and I’d say you’d probably get in to Penn ED if you have great essays. The others are all crapshoots but you’d stand excellent chances at Cornell and Dartmouth. Chance me back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1192613-chance-me-please-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Shaq395 - thanks! I’m taking it again with hopes of a 670+ on the math section. but since I’m going into law I don’t think it will affect me as much as one who’s going into pre-med or something of the like. I really hope that I get into Penn. I just chanced you! good luck with everything! thanks again.

bump! I promise that I’ll chance whoever chances me!

Being so weak in math coursework will call your science olympiad achievements and research in question.

bobtheboy - I researched those topics because they interested me. not to impress the adcoms.

Oh, and chance for tufts too!

I didn’t say you did it just for college, but it is strange to see a candidate so strong in science yet weak at math. So they might wonder how meaningful the science achievements actually were. If you don’t list the science achievements on your application at all, then this is irrelevant, but I would suggest that you do anyway.

bump! 10char

princeton - low reach
dartmouth- high target/low reach
NYU - match
UPenn (ED) - low reach
Cornell - high match
columbia university - low reach

Get better SAT scores if possible.

OH and chance back : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1233558-my-story-will-my-dream-schools-understand-3.html</a></p>

princeton - reach
dartmouth - reach
NYU - in
UPenn (ED) - reach
Cornell - low reach
columbia university -reach

(theyre reaches for everyone)

you have good grades with an upward trend, and really good ECs. Your Sats wont get you rejected, but they dont stand out. Just write nice essays and youre competitive everywhere.

chance back  http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1234318-chance-scared-nervous-senior-top-colleges.html</a></p>

You definitely have a shot at the IVIES and I expect you to get in NYU. I would say you’re a “low reach” for Penn and Cornell and a reach at the balance (because you have a pulse, everyone’s a reach at those). Good luck! Chance back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1201569-chances-senior-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

dantheman1018 - thanks! i’m chancing you right now! :)

You seem to have a decent shot at the Ivies, but they’re a reach for everyone. Your chances seem good though. UPenn and Princeton and probably your highest reaches, but you’ve got it in for NYU. Your SAT is your weakest link. It’s a great score, but it won’t “shine” out at Ivies. Your ECs make up for that, and you seem to have a lot of faith in your essay, which will really help.

Chance me back you get the time! Good luck!
