I've been lurking here for such a long time now (a day or so) so chance me and I'll gb2lurk.

I played the clarinet for a month.
I also play the qwerty and can go at 100+ wpm.

NEEDS TO BOOST MY EGO.

Oh, and please no GPA jokes; they contribute to global warming because my emo tears will raise sea level by 80 meters.

First starting with the UCs
UCB - In if not UCLA
UCD - In (unless you record something wrong … )
UCLA - In if not UCB
UCSD- In
UCL -Umm not a UC…

Privates
U Penn SEAS - Iono, not really sure
MIT - High Reach (Nice APs, but if you have time, retake one of those SAT II Sciences, but you have a lack of ECs)
Caltech - High Reach
Stanford - Unknown Reach (let us admit it, Stanford is one odd school…)
Duke - Not sure
Cornell - Not sure
Brown - Not sure
Carnegie Mellon - Not sure

You’re all academics. No EC’s or talents. All I see is another Asian male from the Bay area who has failed at music and poured hours into his studies. I could walk down the street there and find about 100 people just like you.

You should be in at UCB. If not, UCLA. UCD, UCSB, UCSD are all ins.

I think you’re going to be hurt by you’re lack of EC’s and life outside of school a lot more at the private schools. Carnegie Mellon is your best shot.

Considering your tremendous extracurricular activities, I would recommend applying to any of these colleges as a music major. You could also get a full ride to any of the colleges listed with an NCAA track and field scholarship, as well, due to your experience.

UCs
UCB - Yes
UCD - Yes
UCLA - Yes
UCSD- Good
UC Laney-You might want to reconsider this. UC Laney routinely accepts some of the best students in the country, so it’s a high reach for anyone. Trust me, I’m from East Oakland, where the UC Laney Eagles fly.

Privates
U Penn SEAS - yep
MIT - ok
Caltech - u got this in the bag
Stanford - fosho
Duke - of course
Cornell - mais oui
Brown - your chances of attending this college are as good as brown’s chances of defeating the board of education.
Carnegie Mellon - Yes

And despite what anyone says, being an Asian male is not a disadvantage, for separate standards for different people are “separate but equal”, which is clearly unconstitutional.

haha why ask??
Youre in sure shot at Penn SEAS ED!!

I smell a ■■■■■.

Your academics are good, but your UW GPA seems a bit low. I’m not sure if schools really look at this, but it’s definitely going to hurt. Your talents are less than mediocre, meaning that you show no real talent and little or no dedication. With average ECs, Stanford, Caltech and MIT are going to be huge reaches. I agree with the 2nd post - your best shot at a private school is Carnegie Mellon. You’re in at all UCs except UCLA or UCB, in which case you’re probably in at least one.
