I spent a large majority of time working at jobs to cover bills and necessities for my family. My mother is a single mother school teacher who earns about 45k per year (I hope that will help with aid). I've worked five different jobs all in different industries. A lot of my personal statement included the hardships.

Currently I am a chemistry/math double major, but I'm applying as a psychology major.

Awards:
National Forensics League-districts
AP Scholar with Distinction

If Seattle is out of reach, I would be perfectly happy with Tacoma. I just wanted to know because I am planning to move their as soon as this semester is over if admitted.

Any advice or personal stories would be lovely. :)

While you might qualify for federal aid as you would in any state, you most definitely do not qualify for state financial aid. UW doesn’t give funds to out of state students. So be prepared to pay the out of state tuition unless you qualify for the pell grant or whatever.

Also, UW may like to take in out of state students…they are less inclined to take transfer students from another state
I’m sure you wouldn’t have a problem getting in to UW-Tacoma though (really, you want that over Bothell??)

I’ll become a Washington State resident by the time I enter the 2013-2014 school year, so hopefully that will help out a lot.

As for between Bothell and Tacoma, both schools have very limited undergraduate majors. Tacoma seems to have the correct major I’m currently looking for.

Of course I’d prefer to attend Seattle, but I don’t know how high of a possibility it is to get in.

UW Tacoma is in one of the few nice areas of Tacoma. I like it there. The buildings are pretty and it’s conveniently located.

Don’t let your natural prejudice against the rest of Tacoma spill over to UWT. It’s a great place to be. I’m considering whether it would be worthwhile to apply to one of their graduate programs.
