I know my SAT’s are low, but do I still have a chance?

Congrats on the great work. Sure you do. You’ve got an excellent profile.

But odds are low for everyone.

Where else have you been accepted in any ea or rolling admits or state schools ? Like to know your options and can give you a range of what to expect. What did you like about BC compared to the others? Lots of great film oriented programs out there in the world.

@privatebanker

So far, I’ve gotten into 6 other schools early or rolling:
DePaul in Chicago ($22,000/year in merit scholarships)
Loyola Chicago ($20,000/year from merit)
Providence College ($0 in grants or scholarships- defiantly won’t be going)
SUNY Buffalo ($2,200/year)
Loyola Marymount University in Los Angles ($3,500 merit$)
Fordham ($12,500 merit$)

I know BC is more competitive than these schools, I waited and applied RD to my more difficult school (also waiting to hear back from NYU and Villanova).

I’ve been getting anxious to hear back from BC because recently I’m realizing it’s my #1 choice. It has everything I’m looking for like major programs, study abroad, and class size. I love the campus feel with easy access to Boston. Also, since my Dad went there, I’ve been surrounded by the school my entire life, making me feel super comfortable and at home.

Your SAT is on the low side but the legacy hook may compensate for that.

Congrats on your success so far.
The avg accepted SAT score for BC EA was around 1470 this year, so it is a tough admit. Good luck.

I agree with Tom. But you have a strong GPA and nice ecs plus the double eagle legacy.

So see where it lands for you. I don’t know your family economics but even with financial aid BC can be expensive. I assume the numbers above are merit scholarships. Are you full pay beyond that figure? If so you will be 100 percent full pay at BC. That’s about 68k plus spending money, travel costs, books, your room and normal stuff like shampoo and Advil during the year. There are no merit awards that you will qualify for st BC. They have 15 to 20 Gabelli scholarships that are incredibly competitive and require an invitation to compete, interviews etc. These are to entice potential Harvard type cross admits to come to BC. You won’t get one in all honesty. But few do so it’s ok.

For your goals, I would seriously consider Loyola Marymount. It’s a film industry feeder and right in your wheelhouse. And it is nice school and occasionally a crazy good basketball team.

So worse case you have that going for you. And also Fordham with the NYC vibe and connections.

You are so lucky to have such great options. Obviously you have worked hard and it’s paid off for you.

Don’t stress. It’s like icing on the cake from this point forward with your list of admissions.

@maciecd. For whatever its worth, for the fall 2018, BC received approx. 1550 transfer apps and initially accepted about 150 and would possibly add 20-30 who were on the WL-(MAYBE) How do i know? These stats were referenced in my roomate’s transfer accept letter and I was there in the early summer of 2018 when a BC admission person referenced those same stats to admits and their families @ an On-campus admits Greeting Session (1 of 3 held) . Overall, that’s a lower acceptance rate than either the EA or RD for Freshman admits.

…Not saying you will or won’t get in, but consider yourself lucky if you do, and don’t be hard on yourself if you don’t get accepted.

Good luck.
