Chance me at NYU!!

Hey guys!
So NYU is my clear dream school and I am trying everything I can do in my power to get in-- I plan on applying Early Decision I but am currently a junior in high school.
My numbers are slightly low due to my freshman year, 3.2 uw 3.3 w. Without my freshman year however I would have a 3.6/7 w.
I am taking the SAT's in two days and next month and am currently in tutoring I plan to get around 2000-2100 (my practice test score range) and I plan on doing the ACT's as well, hopefully a 30+.
By the time I graduate I will have finished 7 honors courses and 4 AP's.
For my EC's
worked part time 3 years
Middle East Appreciation Club 2 years
School Paper 3 years (hopefully an editor for one)
President of environmental club 1 year, member 3
Model UN 2 years
Varsity Dance 2 years
Cheerleading 1 year out of school
I will start volunteering at the local library soon as well.

also i know NYU really appreciates culture I have 3 citizenships (Canadian, American, and Croatian) and I plan to write my essay on how my parents escaped the Bosnian War as refugees and how that has impacted my life and learning process. I am also fluent in Croatian and will finish AP French by the time I graduate.
Finally I want to major in Global Journalism and International Affairs.

Thank you so much!!!

also if you guys could help me by giving me some schools I also might enjoy that are less of a reach and less expensive as well-- i'm staying pretty urban!

NYU Carter: Aim for 31+/2100+

Try Carleton as well…

NYU has no international affairs major, though they do have an international relations major. However, that major is an honors major and requires a secondary application after you enroll at NYU during your freshman year, so even if you get in, it isn’t guaranteed. Also, journalism is a required dual major, meaning that you would need to pick a second major to do as well

jazzcatastrophe I planned to do journalism double majored with international relations** I miss typed it above however I did not know it was an honors program. Do you know of other common majors with journalism?

Bump

Good EC’s for your specific major. Your scores/GPA are a little low, but that doesn’t eliminate you from being a competitive candidate. I believe that your EC’s can overcome those scores.

With your essay, depending on how you write it, I think you would definitely get in. I know someone who got in with an immigration story. She wrote about how her father walked from Central America to the US to become a citizen and to be successful. She also didn’t have any huge financial set backs. She’s middle class. Her GPA was a 3.1 and she got 1600 on the SAT. So do you have a shot? Yes! A good one? Yes!

KiaraInNYC thank you so much!! That makes me feel much better knowing that it’s worked for someone else before. I’m lucky they put a lot of weight on who you are as a person at nyu

Help??
