You have a decent chance at all of those schools. Let us know how you do after the application process!

Unfortunately CC won’t allow me to respond to your private message because apparently I have to have 15 posts in order to gain that privilege … And yeah. Penn was great… everyone I know is trying to pressure me into applying to Wharton but I still have my reserves! I would love to talk to you more throughout this process!

For sure! You should definitely try Penn if you like it. I like Wharton’s Public Policy classes haha.

How are you real? I’ll be incredibly surprised if you don’t get into at least one of HYPSM. If you don’t, I might as well drop out and study with the hobo in my gutter.

“I’ll be incredibly surprised if you don’t get into at least one of HYPSM.”

Really?

That’s flattering haha but I think college admissions are a little more complex than that! These schools are so hard to get into that we might as well roll our dice and see what happens and show passion for what we do. I don’t really consider myself as doing that much. I just did the things that really interested me that I was passionate about haha. That was nice of you to say though! 20more is probably right though.

TW
You will get into some great colleges.
Do your best then wait.

Thanks man! We’ll see. I’m not confident or underconfident. I’m just excited I guess. Princeton, Penn, and MIT have been my dream schools for a long time. :)

Cornell: High Match
Dartmouth: High Match
Harvard: Mid Reach
Princeton: Low Reach
UPenn: High Match
MIT: Low Reach

You should be able to get into at least 1 HYPSM school.

wharton/princeton/harvard = reach

You obviously have a very strong application, but I would think more about how your different activities are related and how they fit with your long term goals. Right now it seems a bit like you signed up for everything you could fit into your schedule.

The Jerome Fischer (we call it M&T) program at Penn is great, and I’m sure they’d love to see people who are interested in the networked and systems engineering path as that’s a fairly new program.

Well my passions are in economic policy as my involvement with STEM policy and WDCSC as well as teaching classes on employment at the workforce. But I also want to leverage that experience into consulting and academia.

For every student, even those getting 2400s and 2300s, an IVY school should be considered a reach. Always.

People need to understand that every application that these colleges receive is from a bright student and virtually all of the applicants are able to do the work and could bring something to the table.

First subject test scores came in: Math 2- 750. Literature - 750. I wonder how this will affect my chances. I am going to take Physics in December.

Would you suggest a retake?

Well, the non-800 (omg! Non-800! I’m gonna die!!!) score isn’t going to help you any, but most of these top colleges SAY that they really don’t care about numbers as long as you’ve proved you’re competitive (which you are). So I’d say a retake isn’t necessary unless you’re just OCD. Like I said earlier: make sure you bring out character and passion in your essays and interviews, and you’ll be accepted into some really great schools.

Hey! Chance me back?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1568142-chance-native-american-mit-caltech-stanford-cmu-hmc-brown-carleton.html

Makes sense! I will probably retake Math on the day I take Physics because I know I can get an 800 on it. Perhaps OCD, but I want to put my best foot forward I suppose.

Well, I got into my top choice (Princeton). Thank you all for your help. I feel so blessed.
