almost 400 hours in community service

You have a good chance. Keep up your work! Write a good essay and do a little more of community service or EC? try to join a sport too, it will look good.

Good Luck! Hope you get in to those schools!

Honestly, I think you have a good shot at all of them. I think you’re in at UCSD, UCLA is a match, and Berkeley might be a short, and I mean a very short reach.

ELC and leadership in your ECs will help a lot. What’s your intended major, by the way?

You have almost the same stats as me, and I am shooting for the exact same school as you…so I hope you get in…

By the way, UCs don’t take into account of your major, so it is okay to choose what you like, anyone want to challenge me on that note? I heard that from UCLA admition administrator.

Also, is 400 hours the average volunteer hour for UC candidates?

haha i wish you luck too pretty-girl!
and the thing is, i know that it’d be harder to get into, let’s say, the school of engineering in UCLA than it would be to apply with a humanities major. i believe there are some majors that are more impacted than others… like architecture, engineering, etc. anyway, that’s what i’ve been told. anyone know the truth? haha

I don’t understand what you’re confused about.

And, yes, engineering is impacted, as are some other majors at specific UCs. But the Colleges of Letters and Sciences do not take into account major for admissions.

Just look on their websites, but generally it’s the most “general” school – i.e. the one with humanities, life science, mathematics, social science majors.
