Please chance me for university of Florida 2023!!
OOS low income first generation college student
31 ACT and 3.97 UW gpa with 6 total AP classes in HS (school doesn’t do weighted but I’m guessing around 4.2??)
A few clubs but I work in a nursing home and volunteer at an urgent care clinic which I think is pretty unique and I talked about these in my essays. My essays imo were very good because unique!
I am a jack Kent Cooke college scholarship semifinalist as well
Good letters of recommendation
both from my ap science teachers. I am very close with both of them and I am a teachers assistant for one of them.
I have been accepted to uw Madison and USF and waitlisted at chapel hill.
I am just worried for being out of state but I feel like I may have some hooks but who knows
Are you in-state in NC? Asking because you were wait-listed at UNC.
No I am out of state for North Carolina as well. I am from Wisconsin
I obviously have no idea because I don’t work for UF, but I think your stats look good. I’d bet you get in.
Sometimes I doubt these chance me threads as UF doesn’t even consider letters of recommendation. All of these also seem to have a 3.9/4.0 UW GPA and an above average SAT/ACT as well. If you really have these scores, you are already in for a lot of good colleges and being chanced by another anxious applicant will not help or predict as they themselves are in the same situation and are not admission officers.
Keep in mind that it’s not the “average” student that post on CC. It’s a self-selected group of students that are applying to “selective” (or “elite”) schools, even those posting on UF’s forums. You’re seeing a few dozen “chance me” threads, out of 40,000+ applications.
At UF, the Acceptance rate for OOS students is about the same as In-state students. UF is nothing like UNC when it comes to how competitive it is for OOS students (UNC is around 13%, while UF is around 38-40%). .
