Trying to attend UF in the Summer of 2017, I am OOS, no financial aid required. 6 AP’s 3.79 UW/4.1 W GPA, 6 AP’s. 4 Dual Enrollment courses including 2 through UF. I have 2 jobs, over 10 EC Clubs as well as over 1,000 Volunteer Hours. Only 26 ACT. Please tell me, this is my dream school
Do you know your recalculated UF gpa?
It is a 4.1 @almostdonewithhs
Hi! Current UF student here. I’d say you have a really good chance of getting in! Your GPA is great and wow are your extracurriculars impressive. Maybe try re taking the ACT or taking the SAT. Other than that you sound like a phenomenal candidate.
Test score is the only thing that seems iffy. I recommend you retake it. I believe November(?) is the last date to take it for UF. It’s not too late to start studying! I retook the SAT in November (last year, I’m currently a UF Freshman) and brought my score up 200 points with 2 months of studying - nothing intense, I just did all the practice tests in the Blue Book, and did test corrections every time. 200 points might not seem like a lot but it was from 2100 to 2300 which is a harder gap to close than, say, 1700 to 2000. I’m not familiar with ACT score conversions but you could probably get it up a couple of points at least, if you start studying now, and that would definitely strengthen your already-strong application
JPGator, as you know you’re not a sure thing, but I still think you’re a strong candidate. Test scores are only one aspect, and everything else seems great. I’m betting you’ll get in! If I were sitting on the committee, I’d give you an enthusiastic YES. Good luck!
@Anglograce @Trisherella @HockeyVee I just got my September act results and scored a 32! What are my chances now?
@JPGator98 definitely better! The only thing I can’t speak on is whether you being OOS changes things dramatically. Compared to in state students you have very good chances. That ACT is great, GPA is solid, EC’s and volunteer hrs are awesome. I simply just don’t know how different the criteria are for OOS students. But if I were you, I still wouldn’t be worried.
Your ACT is now in the upper 25% range and but GPA is in the lower 25% range (but borderline). Unfortunately, UF places more importance on grades than test scores. It will likely come down to course rigor, EC and essay, as it does for so many applicants.
You put yourself into a good position, good luck.
