I got a 32 on my ACT, 3.802 unweighted GPA, am in my school's theater troupe, have been volunteering for a camp for adults and children with special needs since fifth grade, run the news organization in my school, and have been actively campaigning for the democratic candidate in my state's gubernatorial race. I have also won highest honor in National Latin Exam several times. I've been on high honor roll in my school and highest honor roll once. My dream school is Wellesley, but because it is such a competitive school I still have no idea what my chances are of getting in. Thoughts?

Everything seems to be in the right place. My only question would be, if your school ranks (meaning, the guidance counselor gives some indication of how you compare to your peers when they fill out the form), is your GPA competitive (top 10%)? I also had about a 3.8 unweighted GPA, which may seem kind of low at some schools, but my class rank was 15/800, which is obviously not low. But yeah, you are definitely competitive for Wellesley. Beyond that, write good essays, have an interview, apply ED or EE–try to show that you are seriously interested. Showing interest is a cliche for a reason–it matters!

I agree completely with advantagious. I’d also like to strongly emphasize the importance of the essays–Wellesley seems to weight those very highly, so be sure to spend time making them great! Good luck to you! :)

Thanks so much for responding advantagious and mariecc1!! Yes, I am definitely applying early decision to Wellesley and I’m actually writing my essay as we speak lol. Though my school hasn’t officially released rankings yet, I definitely fit into the top 10% of my class, which is around 400 students in size.

You are right in the thick of it. Write some great essays and best of luck to you!
