Other:
Interviews: I don't know how to judge these, but as far as time they both went over the usual times (UChicago went for an hour before the lady had to go, we had a nice discussion on the university since I'd already been there for 4 weeks over the summer; MIT went for 1.5 hours, nice convo about LOTR/Star wars and building new clubs)

Essays: Can't judge any of my essays, but I've gone through 10 revisions in total on my common app/mit supplements/uchicago supplement and as of now my english teacher (and my mother, a professor herself) have said that the essays are 'perfect', so they should be above avg. at minimum
- demographics-
State (if domestic applicant): IL
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Large Public
Ethnicity: Indian
Gender: M
Income bracket (if applicable): High, will refrain from saying how much, but high.
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None that I can think of, son of immigrants? I spent 4 weeks at UChicago over the summer which should count for something (giving them a buttload of money...)

I'm guessing that i'm probably in the high-mid to high average pool of applicants for these colleges but i'd really like to know opinions from other people as well including advice perhaps on how to change somethings or improve some things on my app.

Thanks!

bumpbumpbump anyone?

You are certainly academically qualified for both schools. As MIT receives a lot of applications from Indian students, many of whom have been involved in lots of STEM activities/clubs/research opportunities (which it doesn’t look like you have, based on what you’ve provided us), you may have less of a chance there than at UChicago. That being said, you still have an incredibly strong application, so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if you got into both schools :)

Good luck!

Your application should be highly competitive at both schools.

Sounds like your MIT interview was fun. Have you had a chance to visit yet?

You sound like you’re a great candidate, probably low reach or reach at both (since they’re both crapshoots now-a-days)

@NavalTradition - Yea the interview was great. I haven’t had a chance to visit the University yet, too far from Illinois to go and too little time, :
@Thebeatlestoday Yea, I kinda regret the STEM part, I tried to focus in my interview on the economics aspect of MIT / liberal arts a lot more than the STEM just to make it clear to my interview / the admissions committee that im trying to differentiate myself from the typical indian STEM applicants :c
@tips thanks!

bump bump anyone else? :(

MIT EA: Reach
Chicago EA: Reach

No hook->Automatic reach

Reach for everybody but not out of reach, if that makes sense!

Relevant:

Reaches, but man are you one qualified applicant. :slight_smile: Good luck!

^ what he said

Definitely a highly regarded candidate at both schools; with early application, I think you should get in to both schools!
Just make sure your essays are well tailored and reflect who you are!
