I know if anything is going to kill me, it's my SAT scores... But I'm curious to hear if you guys think the rest will be able to makeup for it.

I think you have a good chance…you’re right…SAT score is not too good…but UF considers other factors more…esp. your class rank…Top 5% usually makes the cut. Do you have any leadership positions? Good luck!

As YOU stated, your SAT of 1740 will kill your chances. Possibly retake in December, as a stand by and possibly the improve SAT score will make it on time.
Also, it is impossible on a 4.0 scale to go from a 3.56 to a weighed 5.48 if AP classes are only given one extra point.

^Dual Enrollment classes are also weighted on a 6.0 scale

I would advise you to take the ACT, because I had a 1780 on the SAT and took the ACT and got a 28 on my first try (which looks a lot better). Also, I don’t see how you were in NHS for 3 years, unless your chapter allowed induction as a sophomore. Besides your SAT score, all looks pretty well. Good Luck!

Even though UF really looks at extracurriculars,

They look at GPA, SAT, and Class rank the most, in that order(GPA and SAT may be used together though) After weeding out low scorers for each category they move onto extra curriculars. They don’t have time to read 30,000 lists of extra curriculars in a month

JoeAce
–Dual Enrollment classes are also weighted on a 6.0 scale–

I beleive that you are not correct, unless someone can verify this information.
I also wonder at what level do they begin to screen-out applicants such as under a 3.5 or 1900 or 27 goes into the "circular file " ?

JoeAce, Im pretty sure that Dual Enrollment is only on a 5.0 scale. It is weighted one point just like AP and IB classes, unless you are in some strange place. I know that’s how it is here in Florida.

Yeah, my school allows students to enter NHS as sophomores. As far as my weighted GPA goes, I’m just going off of what it says on my transcript. I actually did take a dual enrollment class and also I have 6 AP classes on the transcript (As of the end of my Junior year in HS) but I really don’t know the calculations behind that number. >_> Also, I’ve signed up for the ACT in December but I have a feeling they won’t receive the scores in time…

Oh, well Ive read at my school that DE and AP classes are weighted as 6 points but the overall weighted scale is out of 5 (which I never understood how this works) so I suppose they would count as 5 even though they stated that they are 6.
