I know my SAT scores are probably a little bit on the low side for top schools (plus I'm an international student - and asian). And I don't have a lot of community service. Also, I heard you had to be good at sports to get into Stanford (which I haven't really won anything in)

I'm just hoping the fact that I run my own internet business and published a book will give me a slight edge. Maybe I can say how Stanford is in Silicon Valley and how many of the great alumni are internet entrepreneurs in my essay.

Thank you!!

If you are in chinese high school,I think for TOP science U,a gold medal is absolutely necessary for chinese students.challenge a national team?despite my words if u are an exchange student

Sorry don’t quite understand what you’re trying to say… you mean for the Maths/Science competitions?

Nope I haven’t won any gold medals nor challenged a national team. I did get into the Olympiad once back in Grade 8 but I guess that doesn’t count?

bump bump…

I’d say you’re a good match for all the colleges you listed. The internet company thing is super impressive. :]

Thank you!!! Now I have some hope :)

Me and you are a lot alike. We both have passions for sports and have the same SAT score: 2090

Stanford

Wharton: Maybe improve volunteer service like you said

Cornell: Very good chance, tend to accept similar applicatns

NYU (Stern):Decent Chance

UC Berkeley:Good Chance

UVa: Good Chance

U Chicago:Very Good Chance

Johns Hopkins: Decent Chance

your SAT/GPA are pretty average, EC’s as well but i think with the internet business/book deal you have a very good chance at most of these schools. could you be more specific about your math/sci achievments?
Stanford - Reach
Wharton - Low Reach
Cornell - Match
NYU - Match
UC Berkeley - In
UVA - In
UChicago - Low Reach

Wharton - Reach

Cornell - Low Reach

NYU (Stern) - High Match/Low Reach

UC Berkeley - Match

UVa - Match

U Chicago - Low Reach

Johns Hopkins - High Match/Low Reach

Your ECs make you a very interesting applicant, but that 2090 will hurt you, especially as an Asian applicant. Regardless, I would expect you to make at least 1-2 low reaches; Wharton and Stanford are hard for everyone, however.

stanford and wharton are tough reaches for you
great course load. I think you just need to focus on the essays and you will stand a very decent chance for the other schools

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736498-ea-mit-caltech-chance-me-ill-return-favor-lvoe-u.html</a></p>

Wharton - Reach (although I think the fact that you started your own business will help)
Cornell - Low reach
NYU - In
UC Berkeley - Match
UVA - In
UChicago - Low Reach
Johns Hopkins - Low Reach

Your SAT scores in CR and Writing are kinda low…plus the fact that you are international and Asian…other than that you’ve got good stuff going for you (i dont think your community service is THAT lacking)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736344-chance-me-ivies-top-lacs-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

Apply to all of them, because you have some great stats and a great hook!

Thank you everybody for the feedbacks!!

@hisairness23 Haven’t really achieved that much in maths/science competitions… just regional competitions where you get like “Certificate of Merit” where I’m constantly ranked in the 95th+ percentile

You have great ECs and they’re veryy impressive! The only thing is that your SAT score seems a little low for those places, you’re barely breaking 2000. And the whole being international thing exacerbates your situation because you’ll be competing with an uuuber talented pool of people who all want to come to the top schools in the US.
Stanford/Wharton: HIGH reach, I think your chances there are slim. The other schools, you have a 50/50 for imo…
Chance me back if you have time? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736548-chance-me-top-schools-ivies.html</a>
p.s. i forgot- are you applying for FA? if not that might help your chances

@fuzzyfirebunny Thanks for the feedback. Yes I’m planning to apply for SCEA… although statistically it’s easier to get in, people say its actually harder cause you’re competing against a tougher pool of applicants

Anybody else got feedbacks? Thank you!!! :)

Ok, here we go! :)

* Stanford-Match

 • Wharton-Slight reach
 • Cornell-Match
 • NYU (Stern)-Slight reach
 • UC Berkeley-Easy Match
 • UVa-Easy match
 • U Chicago-Slight reach
 • Johns Hopkins- Match (because of science awards).

The ones I put slight reach for is not because of your stats, because they are stellar! I put that because of what I know of the schools, they are more liberal leaning, so your essay will need to be passionate and creative. But other than that, you are good!

Thank you! Wow Stanford a match??

Hmm, you might wanna retake the SAT. It’s a tad low for an international applicant. IB score is solid, but not outstanding to be honest. Do you know your bonus points? ECs are really interesting and are your greatest strength. Ok, chances:

Stanford - high reach
Wharton - high reach
Cornell - low reach
U Chicago - low reach
John Hopkins - high match
NYU - high match
UCB - high match
UVa - match

If you feel like it, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/728605-chance-singaporean-cornell-stanford-mit-northwestern-u-michigan-cmu.html</a></p>

Thank you. No I don’t know my bonus points… (I dont think my school will be reporting that anyways even if I did)

Did you really get 45/45? I thought you had to apply for uni before you take the IB…
