In high school my GPA was fairly poor due to lack of effort; my ACT was a 32 and my SAT was a 2180. I didn’t get in to NCSU as a freshman, but is it possible to transfer as a sophomore? I am attending another college presently, but I really would like to attend NCSU as soon as possible. Here’s what I got:
I am the co-president of two clubs
I am Honor Council Rep
4.0 GPA
I have a job
By the end of this year, I will have taken 33 credits
Two professors who are willing to give me letters of recommendation
The only reason I didn’t get in in high school was because my grades my sophomore year of hs severely damaged my overall GPA. What are my chances of getting in sophomore year? If not sophomore year, what about junior year?
I’ll ask the stupid question - have you talked to State? They do take transfer students.
It’s not stupid! Yes, I have, but when I asked them they gave me the generic answer of essentially “keep your grades up and make sure you have enough credits to transfer over”. I simply want to know my chances.
NCSU does not look at high school records for transfer students. Grades, SAT, ACT don’t matter at all. They also don’t want or care about reference letters. I guess they accurately assume that anybody kind find someone to write a good reference letter for them. Go to the NCSU website and get a Wolfpaw account and go to one of their transfer sessions and they will explain what you have to do. With a 4.0 gpa at another college you are in for sure as long as you meet the deadlines and all your paperwork is in order.
