I’ll only be disappointed if I don’t get into Miami, I kind of expect rejection from the top 25 schools. Does income affect merit aid? I thought most schools were need-blind when it came to that. Income is $300,000 /yr before taxes.

Yeah, I know USC is hard to get into; it fits the style of school I’d like to go to though, so I’ll apply anyways. It can be a reach along with GTown. I don’t really want to go there tbh, it’s too far away. GTown is my dream school.

The admissions process is need-blind. Your application will be considered on its qualifications not on your income level. Financial aid is related to the income and assets that your family can provide for your education. I suggest using one of the EFC calculators to see what you’re likely to be offered. How much of that offer is merit versus loans will be school dependent.

I am sorry I would give you advices but I know practically nothing about UMiami. from the comments it seems like you have really high chances! So good luck on your SAT! :)

Boston College might be a bit of a reach.
If you increase your SAT score then you’ll have a strong chance at getting accepted to those schools especially NYU CAS and AU.

From what I’ve heard and read, having a high income is an advantage when applying to NYU because the school is low on the amount of financial aid that they can offer; NYU is not a cheap school by any means.

Just increase that SAT score and do well in senior year, and you’ll be fine.

I would like to hope American is a match/low match. My CR and M are 10-20 points away from the 75th percentile. I’m local so I can show interest, which they value highly.

Haha and yeah NYU’s aid is a crapshoot. My family could afford it but I’m not sure I’d want them too. Unique school though. It could easily be a consistent top 25 school if it gave out aid like the ivies.

Try to get your math and Cr scores up to about 1410. That’s Umiami’s 75% percentile. A lot of colleges use SATs for determining merit aid. Otherwise, you should be in at UMiami. For NYU, you should def. get your SAT score up. If you apply ED to NYU (which I don’t suggest if you don’t want any debt after college), you’ll be in easily. Your GPA is bit low, so make sure your essays emulate your passion.

you’ll definitely get in and youll probably get some merit aid.but there are going to more competitive applicants vying for that money so try to raise your SAT a little bit more

Im gonna be honest. You definately want to aim higher, your test scores and gpa allow you to do that. I’d you’re an automatic acceptance possible scholarship/merit aid.

Thanks. What ballpark do you think I should be aiming for? I am interested in schools such as GTown, Boston College, USC, and NYU but I think they all depend on me getting my SAT up.

I like Miami because I love the campus & location and believe I could get a great gpa since it isn’t as competitive as a school like Georgetown. This is important for getting into med school. I also like the size of 10,000 undergrads and the good sports teams.

Overall, you shouldn’t worry about U-Miami, you’re qualified. Your GPA is decent, but, you took hard courses so it’s okay for the most part. And your SAT score is great for U-Miami. It’s match/safety in my perspective!
