I know I'm not a very strong candidate but I was hoping someone could chance me
Entomology Major
ACT: 28
UW 3.14 W 3.27
A huge upward trend
All A's first semester senior
I go to a very competitive school as well

Are you IS or OOS? ( makes a difference)

Im OOS from California

ACT is competitive however your GPA is a little low. UD’s admit rate (58%) is also lower than Boulder (87%) and Michigan (73%) with preference to Delaware residents. Be sure to update your application with your first semester grades…colleges like to see upward trends! Keep up the hard work and congrats on your other acceptances!

Thank you! We’ll see how it ends up working out!

With the upward trend in your GPA, A competitive ACT score, and being from CA it would be my perspective that you do have a shot for acceptance. While UD does give preference to DE residents it is unique among all Flagship State Universities in that 2/3rds of the students attending UD are from OOS. Hopefully your HS classes included AP/Honors courses and that you did well grade wise in these classes. UD does put a heavy emphasis on this in their acceptance decisions. UD also has an interest in increasing the “diversity” of students from other states where they generally get relatively few applications (CA certainly is one of them). This may also increase your chances. Make sure UD gets those first semester Sr. year grades ASAP. Just my perspective. Best of luck to you.

Congratulations on your UD acceptance! Have you had the opportunity to visit and is it still in the running?

I haven’t yet visited but I like it very much and it is definitely getting closer and closer to the top of my list!
