I’m a high school junior looking to apply to schools like Yale, UCLA, Harvard, Cornell, and some other higher schools. I understand that no one can know since the acceptance rates are low, but any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Stats:
UW GPA: 4.0
W GPA: somewhere between 4.4-4.6, I’m not sure how my school weights.
Major: double major between music and neuroscience
Course load: Taking 9 AP’s total (including senior year), my school only offers 10 for context. (scheduling conflict didn’t allow Spanish 3, so no AP Span), dual enrollment and concurrent enrollment classes since sophomore year: 30+ units with 4.0 college GPA, college courses include calculus I & II, anatomy and physiology, psychology, medical terminology, Spanish I & II (to make up for no AP Span), music appreciation
Test scores: AP Euro: 3 -Not taken other standardized tests yet, predicting 1500+ on SAT
Application material: I have close relationships with both my teachers and my counselors, and my essays will be hopefully good. I plan on putting a lot of time and effort into the essays.
Extra Curriculars:
-Yearbook (3 years) section editor 2 years, editor in chief 1 year
-ASB (2 years) runs all school-wide events, including assemblies, rallies, community relations, possible leadership position
-Worship Team at local church (4 years): play drums, piano, sing, or lead worship every Sunday
-Youth Band (4 years): pianist/drummer for 2 years, worship leader for 2 years
-Choir + Accompaniment (3 years): Tenor, drummer for choir songs
-Photographer with H Collective (3 years): online branding agency
-Engineering and Manufacturing Association (4 years)
-NHS (2 years): possible leadership position
I have more extra curriculars, but these are the ones I feel most strongly about. I put a lot of time and effort into these extra curriculars, they’re not just for looking good. Also, I put a lot of passion and energy into all my work, which will reflect in my essays. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks for your time!
