Chance on me

I know that only admission counselors can legitimately decide whom they admit, but I was wondering what you think my chances are for freshman admission to UC Davis? I would also like to know if UC Davis will accept my honors classes (I attended a Department of Defense school so high standards are set for the classes)?

I graduated at sixteen and I’m currently taking audit classes at a community college.

GPA 3.6 W / UW 3.46 a-g 3.8-3.9 probably

I’m out of state

I will not receive the scores until December, though I think I did reasonably well.

OOS: Safe Match/Match

Depends on your intended major.

History (I eventually intend to become an attorney and I enjoy history). Really a safe match? I thought that being out of state would raise the bar and prove detrimental, as I would compete with the most talented out of state students.

bump bump...

.............................

At a second glance, I find your stats a bit strange:
-Did you take a year off high school during your Junior year?
-How old are you?

UC Davis experienced a surge in applicants last year that eventually elected to attend-causing quite a problem with housing. As a result they/the admis.off may be a little tighter when it comes to offering acceptance letters. You may wish to include another UC to be on the safe side.If you want to be in No.Cal. you may wish to consider UC Santa Cruz.

Or UC Berkeley. ;)

I am seventeen (I will be eighteen in July). I graduated at sixteen and decided to take a year off. I have been taking audit (non-credit) classes at a community college to prepare myself for University and I am working a few on and off jobs.

I didn't attend college following graduation because I moved to the U.S. (from Europe) directly after and did not want to abandon my single-parent mother and I did not want to emancipate myself.

I won't apply to any UC's other than Berkeley and Davis because I heard that the others were party schools and I want to take my education seriously.

P.S. UC Berkeley has always been my dream school, due to its liberal and progressive reputation, but I don't think I have a shot (I'm applying anyway, as it can't hurt)

........................

......................

The atmosphere at Davis isn't as good as I thought it would be, you should make sure you want to go here before you do. Haha, seriously.

Good luck with Berkeley.

Have you been on a visit to either Davis or Berkeley?

Can't afford the plane ride.

Berkeley has always been my dream school though, not because of what the campus looks like, but because of what the institution represents. So, what's UC Davis like then (why don't you like it?)?

I come from a densely hispanic city of California so I am used to people that are...I can't describe it but I don't relate to anyone here. Culture shock perhaps?

There are other reasons...they kept trying to kick me of out of math class, I won haha...they waste my time all the time...they allow me to apply for an internship, get it, and then tell me I can't do it. Small things have built up, plus I miss the beach more than I thought I would.

But I'll get over it all because Davis is a good school, it's better than the other UCs. At UCLA, you get tasered. Berkeley has too much drugs, bums, and liberals.

So you see, Davis is nice and while I may not be completely in love with it, it's a unique and wonderful school. If you like Berkeley because of the reputation, then go to Berkeley. If you don't get in, consider Davis because it has many good qualities.

haha....Yeah, UC Davis does actually appeal to me it's just that I've heard the school often regards their students as numbers. That's why I'm slightly apprehensive. Why did they try to kick you out of math class? What type of people consitute Davisa: hippies, yuppies, etc. I know what you mean about missing the beach (moved from Pisa, Italy to Raleigh, NC). If I'm accepted to Davis I will almost certainly attend...as long as I'm not accepted to Berkeley.

Long story about the math class...I got some bad advice from the student advisors (never trust students at Davis I guess) and didn't meet a requirement for that class.

The people are diverse, I've seen a little bit of everything and there's not one stereotypical Davis student. Well, maybe the "Aggie Pride" thing, everyone wears the Davis clothes and goes to the games...school spirited folks.

Davis has over 30,000 students and coming from the extremely large class of 2010, I can tell you that students are regarded as numbers to some degree. This is true in my classes with the exception of my English class...which is an awesome class. The city of Davis is supportive of the university so despite its class size, it has the feel of a smaller school.
