Chance & Safeties/Matches - Not a rather tempting title, huh?

So let me post my stuff again, for the sake of a changed college list and some specific questions (you can probably guess from the rather untempting title -_-).

- A leadership program for Taekwondo, where I teach/assist (currently, mostly assisting) others (kind of recent)
- Currently in a summer symphony at UC Berkeley
- Volunteering at a children's hospital (just started)
- Planning on participating in a youth orchestra during the school year
- Planning to help with research, mostly for my interest in biological sciences

Awards:
- Uh... a PE award from my old school?
- A scholarship from the church I'm attending (based on your grades, activities, and basically character (particularly in terms of the church))
- Planning to be a third-degree blackbelt... dunno if this would be an award, or not... there's a certificiate given, that I know...

And let's see... I have a predilection towards science over humanities (looking at my courses/APs/SAT IIs, that's kind of a duh...). Kind of interested in biology, chemistry... that sort of stuff. Kind of considering becoming a Biology major, although that is subject to change in the next few months.

So... you can chance me based on my current college list. Also, what would UCSD and UC Davis be for me? Safeties? Matches? Neither (doubt that?)?

Thanks...

You obviously have made yourself well prepared for the schooling of universities. I would say that you have a good chance no matter where you apply. Princeton and Stanford are match/reach for you though just because no one ever knows what they are looking for in an applicant. You would get into all the other schools. U of Chicago relies on essays a lot from what I've heard. But good luck and your stats can take you places.

hmm.. well i didnt apply for anything outside the UC system except for Univ of the Pacific... but i did get into all the UC's... im pretty sure u are a shoe in for all the UCs... what i tell all my younger friends is that if you have a good personal statement, you'll be good. i say the best personal statements are ones that you show how u have overcome a big struggle in your life (its even better to find a community service where you can help ppl that went thro what you did).

hmm... i suggest joining some clubs at school and try to take a leadership role at school.. i was from a pretty bad school and i did a lot of community serivce at school trying to improve the school. for me, i did a lot of one event volunteers and the way i incorportated it all in my application is by titling it "LEARNING SERVICE1, LEARNING SERVICE 2" lol my uc berkeley outreach program counselor said for me to do that becuase the description box gives you more space to write out all the indiv ones you do... then just add up the hrs.

umm davis is a safety... for my school we have this ELC program.. eligibility in local context where the top 4% of our school is guaranteed in a certain list of UCs like UC DAVIS, BARBARA, IRVINE, MERCED, RIVERSIDE, SANTA CRUZ.

if u have any spec questions u can ask me.. i got into all the UCs and recieved regent scholarships offers from UOP and UCLA but CAL's regent scholarship offer was the most generous with guaranteed housing in the dorms for 4 years and other quirks =) i was also interviewed for berkeley's incentive program (where certain schools get to have one student who is accepted in berkeley get full ride; i got second place but it was ok bc i got the regents) umm i also interviewed for the buck scholarship. look it up... if you are in a certain county u could qualify for full ride in undergrad AND graduate school! =) i didnt get this one.... my sisters bf did tho... they are currently paying for his masters..

ok i jsut realized i ranted on about scholarships instead of your intial questions =p srry. and good luck! srry i dont know more about the east coast schools...

oh yah... u can also take more cc classes in the fall so u can be like.. yah i mastered hs (apparently by you're straight A's and perfect scores on SATII and AP tests... ) so thats why u wanted to challege yourself with work at a college level...

UCLA is safe for you.
