<p>I’d say the ivies are an uphill battle given no stand out EC and a just OK ACT.</p>

<p>I think you’ll get into Bing, JHU, UVA, CUNY honors, and Cornell if it’s a Land grant school. If your app was excellent you may get lucky with others.</p>

<p>I would say all of them are reaches for you. Your application looks as if you joined a bunch of random clubs in 11th and 12th grade as a resume padder.</p>

<p>I agree with howdoudo. I don’t see much of a direction in your ECs other than perhaps your writing stuff. I hate to say it but your application may seem club-joiner status.</p>

Cornell- I went there for summer college and I loved the atmosphere there - it wasn’t too snooty, but it was kind of in the middle of nowhere for me…
Dartmouth- party school!~ =D
UPenn- I love Philadelphia/city life in general, only 2 hours from me…
Columbia- felt like a campus in the middle of the city~ a sanctuary in the middle of the hectic city
Harvard- Has honestly been my dream since I was 5 years old
Princeton- I loved the undergraduate focus and the fact that it is less than an hour and a half from me
Brown - no core curriculum
Yale- might as well round it out…</p>

<p>Unfortunately, I agree with howdoudo. It seems like you joined a bunch of random activities as a 12th grader just to stuff your application/resume. If some of them aren’t important to you, don’t list them on the CommonApp. </p>

<p>Personally, I can say that it’s really hard to “chance” someone. As rank 1 at your school, it would seem like you would be the most academically qualified and would do well at an Ivy. HOWEVER, the most important thing is, how good of a fit you are to the school. Personally, I had no hooks, no major awards, and nothing that distinguished me as a student, but Harvard accepted me early this year.</p>

<p>So my main point is if you’re not really interested/passionate about some of those activities, then don’t list them. It’ll make you look less like a mindless high school student that’s desperate to stuff his/her resume.</p>

<p>And to answer your question, you didn’t get rejected because schools like Princeton only reject those that are blatantly unqualified academically (I suppose).</p>

<p>I have to disagree with your last statement, my friend, who attends a top 50 high school, has a 98.12 avg, aps galore, etc. he is first generation, 33 ACT, and 2 750+s sat2s, he got straight up rejected from Yale…and he deserved atleast a deferral</p>

<p>Have you heard from Bing? If not, I’d say choose another safety- maybe Villanova or Fordham. It’s conceivable that you won’t get in to any of those reach schools.</p>

<p>If you have gotten into Bing, then just sit and wait.</p>
