Chancellor's Scholarship Interviews

Got the no interview letter today. Oh well…

Aww Kansub Im sorry to here that.
Hopefully they gave you a pretty good starting scholarship?

I checked my email during study hall today and found out I was selected for an interview! The email was sent at 8:00 a.m., and though I haven’t been home yet I suspect that there will be a physical letter there.

Hooray for wombatsoup!!! Finally some good news here! I hope this means we’ll have more good news reported over the next few days.

Thanks BeccaSue34. Yes we did get full tuition and money from Engineering 20,000 over 4 years. Not too bad. But the kid is NMF and weighing offers from Bama OU and UArk so we haven’t made a call yet. Basically looking for the full-ride and getting close

congrats wombatsoup! that’s excellent new! When did u send your stuff in- i dont think you had said before? again congrats and good luck!

Thanks! I sent them my stuff right after Christmas, and I got the confirmation email from Pitt saying they received my application on January 6th.

wow- ok- thank you so much… i sent my stuff in on Jan 4th… and got the confirmation on the 8th… guess ill be hearing soon… eek! congrats again!

No interview letter today… guess my waits up.
oh well- still have full tuition :)

good luck to all of those still in the running!!

D got the no interview e-mail today …

Sorry, 19mb81 and BeccaSue34. Hope you’re both still considering Pitt anyway.

At least they seem to be sending out more notifications, finally. I think they’re making these kids wait way too long.

Thanks, Mantori. Good luck to all hanging in there. The notifications appear to be coming after a long hiatus! However, I’m not sure I understand the rationale for a rolling scholarship decision process.

We are headed to Pitt next week for the Guaranteed Medical Admission program interview. Let’s see how that goes.

My d sent her material in end of December-no word yet. Question- when you lucky ones got the e-mail from Pitt about your interview did it go to the e-mail you originally used on your application, or do you have an e-mail somewhere with them now that you were accepted by them? Good luck

It came to the email I wrote on my application.

But there will be a letter, too, right? Not just an email? I’m afraid an email could be accidentally deleted, and that would be a terrible way to miss an opportunity like this.

Yes there is a letter as well. It didn’t come right after I got the email as I had expected it to, it took a few days.

Waiting still. Have you heard mantori.suzuki? I’m thinking my d’s letter is lost somewhere.

Nope, still nothing. I haven’t told my son he should call them, because the comments here suggest that they’re just being really, really slow. But we have Spring Break coming up in less than two weeks, and that would be the perfect time to go to Pittsburgh—in fact, possibly the only time we could go, being 900 miles away.

I think I just might call them now, in fact. If I get any useful information, I’ll post it here.

Well, this probably won’t help anyone else, but the gentleman I just spoke with at the Honors College said that my son’s application is “in committee” and that we should hear something early next week. Wow…three months to evaluate a scholarship application. Either they have an ungodly number of applicants, or they’re extraordinarily thorough in their evaluations. Or just slow. Anyway, it’s nice to know that something’s happening.

The Chancellor’s Scholarship would present a gigantic dilemma for us. My son is nearly sold on the University of Mississippi’s Chinese program, but he has friends at Pitt who love it, and he wants to live in a major city. Tough call.

Thanks for the update on your son. That is a big decision if anything more comes from Pittsburgh. My d is doing pharmacy- she narrowed it down to 3 of them, and PITT is at the top.
